my point is

it doesnt matter what system you use....

you should look at the bigger picture then zoom in to detail

eg,,daily--h4--h1--m1--m5--m1

try it with this abcd of clives system,,,,

my point is

the larger the timeframe the bigger the picture

lower the timeframe the more detail

or in another way of putting it,,,,,put your hand to your face (Daily/H4) what do you see?

only a hand in face no detail

now pull hand away a little,,,you see a little more detailof your had?oh yes i see fingers lol (H1 m15)

pull away a little more?? oh yes i have finger prints (m5 m1)

as clive says you have 2 options to trade,,,up or down,,,this is true

to put it this way,,,are you trading with the trend or countertrend???

in other words if you were in a boat paddling what is easiest? paddle with the water flow or against the water flow?

with the flow of course

sooooo

as you can see with the pics i posted,,,,daily is turning down so the flow is down
zoom in and see h4 and h1 doing the same

do this down to your trading timeframe ,,,m1,,m5? trade that direction

stay in the trade with the flow of the higher timeframe

when higher timeframe looks like at an end an reversing,,,,,dook to exit,,,maybe the same way as you entered? top down?

maybe then you may make more pips?

if you traded the m1 on its own would you take the small pips or a breakeven?

or would you look at the bigger picture and take the trade in the direction of the flow and managed your stops to stay in the trade and bank big pips,,,like this 1500pips monster.

im saying guys dont be narrow minded and look only at the small timeframe.

look at the big picture

use tools as an aid,,,i have supply demand,,,hurst,,,,

i use fibs,,,divergence,,,i also plot harmonic patterns

what ever tools your happy with

you can use clives method from higher timeframe to lower timeframe


ps oapdave love your use of murraymaths

D/T This is how I see it Clive , you , me or indeed any other guy who comes on here have not invented the Holy Grail, we just present ideas, some guys run with them some do not and try to tear them apart, Clive presented his and showed many many examples of trades even had indicators made to help, but the last thing Clive did was ever to say its the ONLY way to trade, I am not going to make this a long post just to say do not force any of your ideas on guys just present them in the proper manner, leave the personnel comments of the end of your post and let the guys chose if they think its a way they want to go or it adds any thing to the main method

thats fair enough dave.Personally the holygrail is when your consistant and profitable....a trader!As for my ideas etc...i only preswnt my ideas and let others decide.I think clive had a good system but was not.open enough to explore further where his system could go.For.me....just trading m1 or m5 was narrow.minded......personally should have considered the bjgger picture for trade continuation for.bigger pips.But that is my opinion.Ive posted thoughts and hopefully guys on here may explore and tweak chart settings to.accomadate a wider view of the market

Hi guys maybe I'll add my 1 cent.

For obvious reasons one need to look at M5/H1 or above before taking a trade. It is far better to have a big money flow ot your side.

Next week I will test a early entry in the "move of a day" - that is a first area. Here Clives CCI signals are rare or none (it is the first big move that you see on TTIndi BUT AFTER it is done), market moves quickly, pull-backs are shallow, maybe the best method of entry here is a breakout, need to study this. I dont have time during a day, so I can devote only two hours before London Open and a hour after but those are times when the big moves start. I want to focus on this time only.

The second is trying to scalp into a bigger move, to catch an end of a correction. You have seen above two of my efforts. It requires a lot of work but I think thats the best direction at least for me. Bigger move means looking on H4, H1. I know wildly successful traders doing only this.

I don't want to get drawn into a long winded argument here as to whether we should trade lower or higher timeframes as its a very personal and individual choice we all have to make. Everyone must find their own path that's for sure and whats right for one is wrong for another. We all have to find what works for us as individuals and for me that's the 1 minute timeframe on its own with very little concern for the "bigger picture". I don't need it to make my money whatsoever...

Heres my thoughts on why the 1 minute is King for me personally.....

 

  1. Trading is a high probability game, nothing else so I'm looking for low risk entries with higher rewards. There are literally 1,000's of 10 pip winners all day everyday so much easier to find a 10 pip run than a 1500 pip run that happens once a fortnight if you're lucky, the probability of catching that 1500 pip run are miniscule..Did you catch that run Devontrader??? Only with hindsight I'll bet..
    Funnily enough I get a lot right with hindsight too..in fact I go as far as to say I can't remember having one loser with hindsight...
  2. I only risk 10 pips per trade so if you were to use 1% per 10 pips that works out at 1% risk per trade.
  3. I go to break even within 5 minutes so my risk is on the table for far less time than the higher timeframe trades. I hate sitting through drawdown and very rarely have to suffer it for more than a few minutes at a time.
  4. If I lose the next opportunity is just a few minutes away ..
  5. Often I get 30, 40 and occasionally a 100 pip run from my entries so its very easy to get very good RR by just risking 10 pips per trade.
  6. I can regularly make 10,20 or like Thursday 40% per day trading 1 minute timeframes. I know of one trader that practically doubles his account everyday trading the 1 minute timeframe.
  7. In one 2 hour session you can make 100's of pips..so increasing your account buy a nice percentage every day.
  8. The 1 minute timeframe is far more reliable than any other timeframe because its the money actually hitting the table and so leads all the other timeframes. Why follow a follower??? Why not follow the leader??? Theres a lot of talk about "lagging indicators" on FF well to me anything more than 1 minute candle is a lagging indicator way behind the actual price action which of course is the tick chart, anything else lags price action. As for daily charts well thats yesterdays news...

Lastly , they say that 95% of retail traders lose their money and I believe I would be right in saying that 95% of traders trade 5 minute or above and no more than 5% trade 1 minute charts as most traders would perceive it as noise. I'll let you work that one out...

Now I'm not saying you can't make money trading higher timeframes because I'm sure there are many successful traders doing just that, but its not for me. As far as I am concerned its all about the 1 minute pure and simple....

Why complicate a simple , simple choice, up or down, when its going up I buy it, when its going down I sell it. what else is there to do????

Its as simple as ABCD.....

D/T think about what you have just posted, you have mentioned when you have a method that makes constant profit you have found the Holy Grail, so what is the Holy Grail in trading, Clive makes constant profit from a 1 min, you may make constant profit from the 60 min, I may make constant profit from just price alone, to each of us we have found the Holy Grail, So this could lead to is there a Holy Grail of the Holy Grails, we all have our ideas of how we want to trade mostly it as to fit in with our temperament, trading time available, and capital so what I am saying there can never be a I method or timeframe fits all solution to trading

Clive, do you use only TTindi on M1 or the older setup - TT with opening M5 charts?

funny enough....yes i did catch that trade and banked just over 1300pips of it. Fact! Live account !

how can anything bigger the 1min candle be lagging?All candles are multiples.of the 1min candle.....formed at the same price and time as each other.Bigger timeframes are only condensed 1min candles
