Yeah you may be right but sentiments rule the market too. I entered my shorts nzd/usd @0.6286 and took my profit at exactly 0.6240 as predicted. Now am out of the market and lets see what the number will really turn out to be.

so last night I scalped 5 pips long .6280 before bed,60 mini lots closed it out. woke up and woa. I Guess I missed the 0 after the 6 when I sold it off. Nice surprise.. disturbing though too, for once a mistake in my favor.

I expect GDP to bring this lower.. Yellen tried to make it sound like a rate hike is still coming this year.

went in short, downtrend all time frames. daily RSI is still in selling mode.

I was watching the NZDUSD last night during the Feds Janet Yellen commentary. The statements were what most traders would have considered bullish for the USD. The initial price spike was down almost about 50 pips. This chart shows the price action on a 1min time frame. I am not a newbee I have been trading for some years but it was obvious that at one point the price was not able to go lower. It was if it was being prevented from moving lower after the initial spike.

My point is this, Who was determining the price movement. Was the price freely moving according to popular market sentiment or was there a more powerful force, some market participant that was determining what price parameters are appropriate for the pair. In my estimation there is no way that type of price movement is purely based on what I would call "normal trader activity". So here is my true question.

If the Central Banks or some other relatively small group determines when enough is enough (in terms of directional price movement) during these types of events how do traders successfully navigate this dilemma. One can be right in perceiving the short and longterm weakness in the NZD but Obviously there are other powers at play that can negate what is "natural market movement".

Have you ever seen markets where the price just cant seem to go down even though it is obviously trying to move lower? This is most obvious on tick charts and 1min timeframes. You may see a quick powerful down tick followed by an equal or greater up swing,l all in a swift somewhat erratic pattern. I have yet to be able to maximize my trading during these types of market activity. Can anyone who has either noticed something similar or mastered this type of price behavior comment?

I don't think it was the work of central banks but I was a little puzzled at its movement back up, especially after gdp this morning, I didn't see any other pair retrace as much as NZD did. RBNZ wants the pair lower so they wouldn't be intervening. I doubt the fed would. Probably commercial traders if anything.

The pair is consolidating above the 200sma, still maintain in the bullish territory.

I actually was working on another strategy and forgot to close out this trade (at the .786 mid level) from yesterday, looking for a return to .63418

Nothing much here it didn't move much down on US data today, probably waiting for CNH data tonight

I think it may go down from the 61.8 fib(hr4 chart)

The .6400 $ question has been answered. Short for me.
