why does the EA performs so good @ 2015 but why did it faill in the past ,

what was so different now in 2015, was it the ADR that was lower this year?
was it because it was less ranging or what are the factors for it !

That's the very 1st tool I coded more than 8 years ago ! Code is awful ... but it seems to still be effective

i made a Backtest from january 2014 to 07 of september 2015with dukascopy tickdata (99%).

q is 420. diff = 0 and Time from 2-8.

start with 2000. if the Balance reach 4000 then the cycle begins with 0.02 if 6000 then 0.03 and so on.

But if we using 1000
1. cycles=0 -> yield 1120
2. cycles=1 -> yield 1057

So can Shaolin give some explanation, moreover there folks here say run tester not having good results

With this particular EA (either Vlad's or Shaolin's) you will get crashes - end of story. This is a counter trend trader EA whose only logic is to open a new position on each new high, then it is filtered by xcandles distance time etc - other filters such as MA, OB-OS and so on have also been added and at the end of the day all that happens with a backtest is that you get a curve fit result for a specific time frame. That is all well and good but one thing we know is this - markets are fluid and what worked a year ago is most likely highly irrelevant today.

A good read is to go over more of Mastermind's approaches on how he uses it - you will quickly see that it is far more manual than automated (specifically exits) as he uses the EA for entries and then manages the basket of trades.

So you have to ask the following questions of yourself, not the programmer:

1. Why am I using an EA to trade - am I using it to trade when I am away from my terminal or do I want it to trade all the time? If I want it to trade for me - why? Do you have trouble identifying trade opportunities or are you afraid to "pull the trigger"?
2. What am I trying to achieve as a profit target?
3. What risk am I prepared to accept

Once you can answer these questions you can then formulate a trading plan based on your objectives. The other side of this coin is very simple also, MT4, regardless of how good your backtest data is, cannot give a truly reliable assessment purely because it works on 1 minute data and then uses an algorithm to simulate tick data thus giving a skewed result.

Also, if you set a hard spread during backtests this will differ dramatically from reality, and if you decide to use the "current" setting then depending on when you press the start button depends on what spread is used for the whole test thereafter - and this makes a huge difference to end results. Remember that market dynamics change all the time so decide what you want as an end result and then work towards that.

I have had a lot of fun playing with this EA to see what it can do but at the end of the day I would not use it unattended on a live account no matter what. I have a trading regimen that involves a predefined time frame with specific trade types, targets, time frames and also the particular security I want to trade.

I personally like to trade the DAX and I also use the GBPAUD - for these I have vastly different strategies techniques and even time frames. I would love to have an EA that does this for me but what sometimes seems so simple to the human eye and brain is completely different to a computer program. The other thing to take into consideration is experience, remember, this EA cannot think - it simply follows rules set out by someone who "thought" them up or modified them.

I can on a good day have anywhere up to 20 or more trades and other days I may have 1 or 2, it depends on what I see in front of me. Some trades are open for seconds and others can be open for days (GBPAUD mainly and very rare). I like to get "square " on a trade as soon as possible so I will often have a small take profit with a portion taken for profit with a BE or BE + 1 on the remainder. Logic is if it retraces, I can always reenter IF I choose to, or simply wait for the next opportunity. I use trade managers and I know that I will get plenty of running trades and I am happy to take small profits off the table. Losses happen and that is part of trading so I have to have a strategy and a money management plan to make it all work.

As i type this, so far today I have had 2 trades on GBPAUD for 2 wins 50 + 38 pips and the dax has given me 1 loss of 25 ticks and 5 wins of 8 + 16 + 16 + 40 + 16 ticks. I still have around 5 hours of trade left but most likely I will call it quits early and have a beer.

Like I said decide what you want and work on that and use all the tools at your disposal.

Please do not think I am trying to can what you are doing, I am just offering some perspective on the topic . I wish you all the success in the world going forward.

What 1 cycle means is simply that during the nominated trading time window, if the cycle is set to 1, then the EA will open trades and when they are closed then 1 cycle is completed and no further trades are opened. If you have it set to 0 then it can have any number of cycles. You may find as a point of interest that if you start your trade time at 01:00 instead of GMT 00:00 you will most likely see an improved result, the reasoning here is that takes you through to the 1st hour of Tokyo trade. Many years ago I was lucky enough to have a mentor who taught me a lot of things and one saying he had that I always remember was to do with the Asian session and that was that the 1st hour in asia normally sets the tone for the rest of the day, so by skipping the 1st hour you will miss a lot of false starts - give it a try

PS - since my last post I have had 3 more DAX trades of 8 + 8 + 8 ticks - believe me when I say these add up. I have a risk on every trade of .5% of my capital. Here is a simple screen shot showing the DAX chart - for fun see if you can recognize the trade entry points.... just as a hint - I like to trade WITH the momentum

Suggestions from my observations:

- Experiment with hard SL/TP for various pairs. I tried shorter ones (US$6-10-14 with SL of 100 bucks, 160, which is realistic)... for TP it seems that $9 is my sweet spot. Helps grab a retracement and secure the trade before opposite signal exit box. Yes, could limit profits, but safer.
- I simply COULD NOT trade without the xdist input with real money. You'd just get too overexposed to large unretraced movements. xdist=140 (14 pips) spaces the entries just by enough to be able to withstand a prolonged movement in one direction without retracements , and gets you enough entries to make things interesting. I'm also experimenting in a couple of accounts with a smaller xdist (60, 70)- Results are better, but I'm aware this could be risky /saw it yesterday in some pairs).
- I'm using several combinations of QDC/QDE, I've seen so far that you can't go below 180 for decent entries, and am trying combinations all the way up to 425. 1:1 is pretty stable, but trying combinations such as (ENTRY 300/ EXIT 250, or 400/300) seems to do a good job as well

- I'VE ALSO TRIED the M5 timeframe. Simply BORING and not nearly as profitable. I'll ditch it altogether if in a couple of weeks things don't get interesting. Might as well put up a couple extra M1 demos with other configurations.

NOT A SET AND FORGET THOUGH. Hard work still required, but this is a superb tool if used wisely.

After going through the EA, I understand that it is indeed profitable, but it needs big capital to sustain the big losses if the market reverse very late.
As I'm still a college student, the max capital I can afford is 700 USD, would you mind to modify the EA to suit my 700$ capital without blowing it?
Plus my holiday is about to end in 1 day, I need to stop my forex journey until next semester holiday, so I don't have time to go through this. (so sad)

So far, the ideas I can think of:

1. Sometimes the boxes can appear many times in 1 place, if possible, that area of many boxes = 1 trade only, until another box is formed in a not-so-near area, then take a trade again. OR, take 1 trade and skip 1 trade method, if 6 boxes in that area, take 3 only.

2. Limit the number of trades(for example,limited to a total of 1 lot), after the limit, find a best possible price to exit all the trades for a small profit/breakeven/small loss without waiting the reversal box (this is to avoid blowing my account during a hard day)

3. Use a smaller lot progression, first 3 trade=0.01,next 6 trade=0.02,next 12 trade=0.03, next 24 trade=0.04, and so on.

Backtest the EA (1 year period I think is enough) after including the ideas above and see how it turns out.
I hope that you can help me on this, thank you very very much in advance!

My suggestions to you, my friend

- Use only 0.01 lots, no increment.
- try a xdist of 150 or more (15 pips between entries, it will reduce DD)
- go for a high QE/QC, it'd suggest 400 or something like that.

Demo for a month, pick the best pairs, plug in your 700bucks, and I think you'll be making profit and controlling risk
