Yeah, I think that's just the way that one works. Once you close the trade, it goes back to "zero", thus it only runs while the trade is open. After you close the position, you can double click on the pipcounter, delete it (don't worry, it'll come back), then use the text tool in MT4 to enter the total pips that you got and take a screenshot. When you're done, double click and delete the number you entered with the text tool, switch time frames from say, 30 to 15 and back to 30 and the pipcounter re-appears for your next trade.
Sounds overly involved but, it takes less than a minute to do. That's how I do it.
