Cattle/Hogs:
Cattle supply/demand is a bit bullish in the US but the problem is the US$. With the dollar so high & other currencies (brazil real) so low we're importing a fair amount of beef now as end users/processors can import cheaper than buy local. The beef import ban on Argentina & Brazil was lifted in july so more access to cheap beef. The chart looks lower. The pork complex is a bit more bullish but too high now for buying.

Cocoa:
With most commodities looking pretty ugly, cocoa has held up very well. Fundamentals are OK so I'm not interested in shorting.

US$:
As for the US$, I think the Fed WILL RAISE RATES this coming week. Even if they raise, I feel there may be a quick pop higher in US$ but then no follow-through buying. This has been the most talked about .25% rate hike in history so why would anyone be surprised? Just raise & get it over with. If equities are tanking right before the decision because of the china news this week then they may cater to the funds & hold off again. Equities might even rally on a rate hike if the US$ doesn't spike too high. The US$ chart sure doesn't look very bullish IMHO.

Thanks Srt for you insight. You can be trusted to provide excellent fundamental info as usual. I agree with you about the Fed's raising rates and the issue being the most talked about hike in history. Will be watching carefully. Thanks for your post. Much appreciated.

December Cocoa

We have a breakout - not in the direction I was anticipating. But that is trading for you. Now this chart is sporting an overbought indicator and is nearing old resistance but requires further analysis. Price could keep going

See how finicky the markets are. Yellen kept interest rates on hold and now the markets are down hard because they should have raised interest rates. This is why technical analysis is excellent compared to fundamental analysis. There are just too much variables with fundamental analysis. With Technical analysis all is in the charts.
