Indie does not need to be live on chart, but if it isn't on the chart how will you know if the EA is placing trades correctly?

What account & settings are you using? Seems a few people are experiencing a problem where backtest the EA works fine, but foreward test it does nothing...

Any other coders out there that can see what I'm missing?

Are you using FIFO = true?

I also had the same message pop up sometimes but it did not seem to stop the EA. Will look into it a bit deeper.

Hello Vlad, thanks for the EA, your efforts are very much appreciated. I tried to start a small backtest (1 month on GBPUSD 1m) with more or less standard Settings but for some reason not a single order was opened. Do you know why this could be? I tried it on two separate MT4 installations (from 2 different brokers), also no error message in the journal tab. Attached are the settings I used - any idea what I am doing wrong? Thanks.

Hi Vlad, with FIFO on I get the continuous array error in V 1.4 but not in V 1.3. With FIFO off V1.4 places one trade and then does nothing, V1.3 works normally.

Many thanks for the comments option. I have V1.3 running on a couple of tests so I will switch one with V1.4 to see what occurs in live trade and compare. I will advise results

Yes,

Your "Stop after each cycle" is set to true - this means that EA will not take trades unless you click the button that appears in your chart. This will have to be done using visual mode when back testing.

Otherwise just disable this option?

Thank you for the generosity.

- The candle gap option works now
- The grid settings is not working yet.
- When i set it to true, the EA didn't place trades. It only trades when I set grid to false.
- Could you please add option for Lot multiplier. Allow trader to select whether to use lot multiplier or use existing lot progression settings

Could you please send me a PM of your set file? or screenshot of your settings? This helps me in a big way to identify the problem, if I can replicate it on my side.

At the moment I don't want to add new features, I think it would serve everyone best if we focused on getting a bug-free V1.4 going. Soon as we have done this I will add more features.

Thanks Val, seems to be working quite well on my tests so far.

Suggestion for future version....

1. Multiple trade sessions (start/stop times) with ability to auto stop cycle should opposite signal appear during the session.

8 Short trades on GBPUSD. All went to TP.

Read both pages and i like where this is going.
Testing v1.04 right now and would it be possible to add a box count for opening new order ?
Instead of taking 20-60 trades, set the ea to take a trade after each 4 boxes for example. That means we'd change the lot size also.
Ex.
First 12 trades are of 0.01 with average distance of 4 pip between each trade...
Instead of 12 we'd have 4 trades of 0.01 with 12 pip between orders to complete a cycle of 0.01 or first 12 trades.
This way, less margin used and if/when it goes deeper, dd is smaller but also the profits.
2nd set of 0.02 would also have just 4 trades and so on.

Glad to see so much participation here. Been away for a few days with some issues but all is well. Vlad, we sure are keeping you busy, thanks for your effort. I wish I could help with some of the coding but I don't know anything about that stuff. I would encourage other coders to help out Vlad if possible.

I'm having issues with the EA not opening trades as previously mentioned by me and more recently others. What's odd is that the original ea opens trades just fine in a live account, but since the addition of the stops, or the grids, or something, it doesn't open live trades anymore just opens trades in backtest. No worries though, I'm sure Vlad and others will figure it out.

This EA has pretty much all the features I would like to trade with the way it is right now without over complicating it. There is just one more feature I would like to see and that is a reverse trades option. What this option would do is instead of selling after red boxes, it would buy instead. So when we get a long trend or a sharp move one way or the other, we would be stacking positions for and not against if that makes sense. This would especially be useful after a period of no activity maybe leading up to important news or such. Call it a breakout feature if you like. That's pretty much it.

Really enjoying the development of this and the concept itself as presented by scott.
After trading the original method for a couple of weeks now (since it was presented almost) I fear the desperate need to filter entries for this EA is very difficult. I personally have been using simple grid type rules manually. I have tried many different things though to filter and ultimately it all still boils down to a large amount of discretion.
By far the best filter and discretionary tactic which saves so many bad trades is time of day. You simply cannot enter during London and not end up very deep in DD. Sometimes they come good, sometimes not so good, but it certainly leaves your nerves in shreds. As mastermind stated in the other thread Tokyo open provides some good opportunity which if not closed usually continues and adds to the pre London entries which then close during London open. I only take entries between 12 am and 9 am BST (GMT +1) ish after which I will not enter unless I'm following a current entry string.
Thought id share my findings here (most of which has been stated by others at various times) as I feel apart from a few minor bugs this the biggest problem. I do not feel this EA can be set and forget 24/5 without specific time related activation.

Trading live I have noticed the following:

The EA version 1.4 opens all trades as it should and at the correct candle ie the open of the 1st candle after the signal entry box (red or blue).

However, when changing the Magic Number to say 1001 the orders opened by the EA remain referenced to MN 2015.

So perhaps this is why the EA is having problems closing out my group of orders.

Please take a look and if there is anyone else having this issue please speak up.

The other issue is that when I keep the MN = 2015 (default) the group of orders are not closed out.

I am testing this on a few other pairs and will relay the findings.

Note: I hope you don't mind me digging around in your code if i ever get some time........

Wow.... can't believe I missed that.

You are 100% correct MM - as an input setting I take Magic Number from the user, and i search for this number when looking to close trades. But when I open trades I use a default "2015" instead of the user defined magic number... such a noobie error!

This will fix your issue when you change the Magic Number - but I don't think its going to solve the issue of it not closing your orders, still need to solve that mystery....

You are far from a 'noobie' Vlad..........

Your efforts to help are outstanding.

Don't worry the EA will work as it is meant too sooner rather than later.

If it's still having troubles closing out orders live then I'll take a look under the hood on the weekend to trace the error(s).

I loaded the updated version of the EA onto a live chart and left it's MN = 2015 and set a very low eintDepth 3 value so the EA would open trades much faster.

The EA opened all trades (live) as expected and closed out the group of trades on the 1st candle after the reverse signal candle (as it is meant too!)

Working good Vlad, I'll test it on different MN and when multiple instances of the EA are opened with different MN on different pairs.

I like what I see!
