If you look at the results post, I don't have "@" next to any Trades. the .01, .02, .05, and so on is just there to show you the level I'm on. So Trade 33 you mentioned was actually around 2.7 pips, which was rounded down to 2 pips. This was using .05 lots, so take 2 pips X 5= 10 pips. Drop the decimal points and the "0"'s in front and use the base number in the lot size as a multiplier. It's easier to calculate how much you make per pip with 10 X .01 than 2 X .05.

we cant just sit down an watch the charts guys. please programmers help to develop an EA. this method has potentials.

thanks mer for sharing your method. i do see potentiall especially with proper mm and exit strategy. also of course a worst case scenario must be considered = sl value if it goes against too far.

if gu trades close out fairly quickly before any news most of the time that would be brilliant. gu always and quite often has fairly early europe session news, and gu news make it move sharply, especially gdp and of course rate decisions like today.

Well this Quantum indicator is nothing more than a ZigZag indicator. What you are doing is sell at the peak of the ZigZag and buy at the valley of ZigZag. Unfortunately at the end you will face situation where you have to get out of your positions with a loss. I have personally tried this method few years ago with increasing my lot size every time there was a signal, but the end result was a disaster.

I tried every certain pip gap entry, every certain ATR multiple entry, nada. Once a strong trend starts to brew, and you are unaware of it, the result is a terrible DD. This happens more often than you would expect.

Since ZigZag indicator checks for high of X bars (or low of X bars), if you are stuck in position during entering Asian trading hours, since the volatility is generally low, the indicator will give you a box (signal) at 20 or 30 pip range, which will get you in real deep DD.

I am attaching a zigzag indicator with some other bells and whistles. Just attach it to you chart together with Quantum indicator. You will see in advance where the Quantum indicator will draw the next signal ( it will be on the dashed line).

Just enter the same value as you enter at Quantum indicator (300 or 325) you will see that it is the same logic.

goldthehun whilst the indi revolves around well known principles it is not the only factor in this strategy. the entry time is crucial if following the original rules and can play a large part of the success /risk. which is why I refuse to take trades after a point of time in the day, many on here however do appear to be taking trades throughout the day with success but I'm not sure about how long for.

Yes Spoon I understand that totally. The problem is the system relies on retracements to take profits. If the 300 bar retracement does not happen during those hours, the Asian market comes into play. During in Asian hours 300 bar retracement that we are expecting can happen with a size of 30 pips. This could mean that your average entry pips could be minus 60 pips, and you would have to accept the 30 pip profit from last entry. If Martingale is not involved in the system, than it would be very hard to avoid large DDs. I am not suggesting Martingale, thats another reason for a disaster.

What I am saying is that maybe there is a mm method, or specific pip gap method, or some support and resistance method to make this system viable. But I couldn't find one when I was trading this way. Whatever I tried, the end was inevitable.

Some periods you would make a lot of profit with good profit factor, but than a period would come where you would give all back and more, unfortunately..

I think your concerns and points are very valid which is why I only choose very specific timing and if nothing is happening as it should ill bail.
However...
I been thinking about this today a lot whilst at work and I cant help but feel similar in that ultimately all we are doing is buying and selling at extremes,overbought /oversold etc....you can put most indicators on and get it to replicate what we are seeing in a different way.
Then I asked myself how many times in the past have we panicked ourselves out of positions because of deep DD or other signals only to see the following day it would have been massively in profit, or we should have held out through that small pull back. Maybe the 'magic boxes' give us reason to leave it alone. maybe that's all we need ? pull up any chart price nearly always retraces to some degree. Sorry for rambling/thinking outloud.

It's a fair point you've made. ie deep DD before going into profit,

In actual fact, mers system needs the dd in order to generate orders (he has very deep pockets remember so can comfortably accept large dd) prior to a turnaround, and that is the part that's hard to swallow for most (incl me), because a) it is counter intuitive in that you are knowingly placing orders in the wrong direction, and b) more importantly, as everyone knows, how do you know for sure that it will turnaround favourably within an acceptable range before being buried and c) even when it does turnaround, it may not yield sufficient when an exit signal box does arrive,

Those 3 things for me make it impossible to trade as laid out, and therefore think it s best to use the Quantum along with other means of choice, to identify the reversal point, with the aim of trading with that change in direction identified, and thus minimise as best as possible the dd issue. It's this area that I'm focussing my own attention on , and the longer t/fs that I prefer to trade with careful adjustment of the indi parameter settings means that not too many trade buy or sell signals are generated, which on the 4hr chart for example will yield more than enough pips in a day or two.

But full credit to mer, he has always stated that his method may not be suitable for all, because of the danger with the dd which will, as everyone knows, hit hard at some point soon I think, and when the honeymoon ends, then it will be interesting to see just how euphoric people are feeling about the current system then.

Either way, I still feel the Quantum and actually the ZigZagZag could maybe work in harmony together...

I back test this system in one month but manually by scrolling down the history and i found out it has a reasonable profit. but i did it by some modification. I add the TMA that high five introduced. this indicator decreases the amount of positions so bring down the drawdown significantly.
So i suggest to programmers of EA that add this indicator too if possible.
And thank you mer introduced us this great system.

People need to read the thread fully, all these points have already been made. Landline shouldn't have to reiterate something that has already be said and explained.

Just so everyone knows, I do not trade on NFP news days. I will of course post trades that would've been taken as if it was a regular trading day. I learned my lesson the hard way once and have not done it since.

thanks ferru. you mean it repaints? as you know i just use it for filtering if boxes appears below or above the MAs so we enter in positions.
