This is a great help zamfir. I have learnt more from the James16 thread than all the other threads put together (in fact the eur/usd thread actually gave me brain damage...... i thunk) and its guys like yourself who are willing to share their experience that have aided that.

I see from the trades you have taken this week that you have very clearly defined exits in your mind.

Have to say though my usd/jpy chart looks very different from yours, there is no pin bar on mine. I know i am going to look like an idiot for asking but is there a reason for that?

There is no exchange for forex markets. We trade OTC Forex which means every brokers feed will be different , so charts will look different.

Very interesting post zamfir.
It seems to me that you use 00:00 NY in contrast to 17:00 NY as close of the D1 candle.
If yes what is your reason for this ?
And the second question, do you use the same amount of risk in counter trend moves e.g. AUD/JPY or GBP/CHF,
are there additional things you keep an eye on in a counter trend situation ?

The FX majors are traded at the futures market. (6E, 6B, 6A etc.) But what you see @ your broker is a spot OTC rate and completely arbitrary.
I have always admired people who had big belief in spot round numbers (especially on Future specific assets such as crude oil) - the round numbers they see, means nothing to the big guys...

No reason. This is my onanda demo feed. These charts are for study purpose only. I trade with FXCM and i don't have all 28 pairs on that.

Risk is something i assess on each setup. I usually put the SL behind the PA bar , but sometimes if i see a good PPZ i hide it behind it. Doesn't matter if the trend or counter trend.

Additional things to keep in mind are Very big round nos(multiples of 500 pips) / gaps / huge trend bars. Do not go against them.

He're AUD/USD, as I've been eyeing it since halfway last week.
Strong divergence; starting to make a higher low.

Provided with strong bullish PA breaking thru that PPZ (.735) on the upside, this looks like a good setup to me.

I only have one question, reg. your GBPUSD chart: what made you not to take the bearish PB coming down from 1.5675 (2 days behind from last candle on your chart)?

Good question , I was expecting this.

you could or should have taken it. I did take it. But see the follow thru bar. It could not break the VBRN @ 5550. We had roughly about 50 pips to the FTA. It could not make it and friday was the last day of the week so closing time for all positions.

But then you would think why did i take the bullish pin after 24th. See the follow thru on that . It clearly broke thru the VBRN 5550.

Now this is the daily so we can expect some strength in these PA bar, had this been on a 4h ,i would not have taken any of those Pins because price is stuck in the VBRN area.

After every PA bar , observe the follow thru bar and you will know how strong it the move is going to be.
