{quote} Hi cuch, It's a very interesting idea to use stop hunting as part of your trading plan. I have personally faced this type of situations quite often, but most of the time I could avoid losses because I tend to move SL to break even point quickly. But like you could imagine, I sometime miss the big moves as well. Could you teach me how to identify those area? I'm sure a lot of people will be interested in this topic. Thank you !

This is an actuall 1 H EURUSD.
Just need to train your eyes, and look for the obvious places where most retailers would put their stop....either cause they just got in the trade, or they are trailing.
Usually the last swing.
Also, after the run, is the safest place to put your stop.News are used to flush most players...If I trade 4 hours, my stop is very wide...if I trade 5 minutes, I close way before the news.

Hereīs a homepage of professional traders who base they trading on stop hunting, they have lotīs of you tube videos explaining..I donīt use their system, but definitely pay attention to stop hunting. Itīs horrible to get flushed, only to see it run in your direction...without you...

{quote} well said. reason i was asking this stupid question in my previous post is, i usually find market is thin and not moving a lot in the 'right' direction in the morning 6-11am, and the worst time to enter a trade is during HK/SG lunch time. so i restrict myself to only trade after europe open at least, if not after london open. i look at smaller time frames, that somehow contradicted to my day job. so i wanted to know how fellow traders in Asia plan for their trading days, and their trading styles. good to know you look at smaller time frame...

I keep my philosophy simple ::

Your sergeant tells you aim rifle left .....

Dont be the recruit that exhibits salmon behavior by swimming upstream......... just follow your bosses unless you have billions to move.

Hi there,

I normally trade during the UK or US open. 6-11am is best suited for taking kid/wife to work, read the papers, some work-out.

Past 3 months, I trade from 6-10pm period.

Love watching the 8:30pm chart drama, dun trade if you are a newbie. You need steel balls and luck.

for me i can only trade after work so its around US opening to midnight. i trade 1H timeframe and usually close all profits by midnight. short term trading have gave me more profits and peace of mind then long term so far so i am sticking to it for now. i am not zai/confident yet to catch big fish like the pros here on longer time frame but i am working on it. what i have learnt so far (in the hard way) is to not be greedy and do not enter if there is no GOOD setup and this have served me well so far

Brings back memories mark,i lived in hongkong from 93 to 98 ,did you notice the doors going into the roman baths ,i done the paint effects on those big roman doors although that was along time ago,

incidentally hongkong was my first experience of forex,i took a job in some offices in lockhart do, trading forex.i lost 10,000 pounds of a relatives investment .things were very different then basically price and simple monitor.ronald chow was my mentor and i did the opposite to everything he taught me as we do believing we know everything in our 20 ,s .it was not until i came back into forex 10 years ago that i used the knowledge he gave me 10 years earlier .

lots of good and some bad memories from my 5 years there.

Mark ah! Fellow Singaporean here!

From my experience, a reward to risk ratio of 3:2 will only mean that 2 out of 5 trades hit T/P.

In the long run, price will have an equal probability of moving up by 1 pip and moving down by 1 pip.

Hence 3:2 reward will only be fulfilled 2/5 of the time over many trades, then minus away the commissions, you are basically bleeding money away...

Unless if you are really lucky.

Of course, if anyone were to dispute me, fine, and convince me that your method will make it more than 2 out of 5 for 3:2 reward risk.

in my own opinion, there are only 2 ways to counter it

1. small time frame like 5 min, trade every break of high/low following the tendency of up/down, small SL/quick break even and on the screen 100% of the time, must maintain a clear mind all the time.
2. use big SL, daily range for example, set and forget, big boys are also not stupid enough to break some large time frame swing points that will catch attention of many traders to move the market to the unintended direction. some reference points are the session (Asian, London, NY) highs and lows, personally I found the NY session high/low are usually tested/false broken during Asia/London session of the next day.
