Too busy to trade today but having a quick look at using this 5 minute 120HMA as the master and then wait for 1 min to turn in same direction producing some nice charts today...

Pres78, sorry if u have already mentioned this answer, but what is the dotted MA on previous charts u posted? U have the HA ma and then a slower one with like a dashed yellow line . . .

Did u try multiplying 120 x 5 ? To jump up a time frame from 1min to 5min?

Personally I've been using HMA 360 (3-minute setting along with the 24 CCI at the bottom. It's been working well for me.
(I don't use the 24 cci for trades; for the time being I'm just watching it, particularly when I get a signal and see if the 24 cci is at or very close to the zero line or already above/below the 100/-100 line. Those seem to give great continuation trades when the M1 cci gives a signal on a strong trender).

Here I took the first higher low after a hard bounce off the pivot and EU was the strongest trender on M1 and M3 HMA. There was a more valid
cci signal just after that which would have paid about 13 pips but I ignored it.

I use 12 pip initial stop which I usually move just under the C swing, then move it up aggressively if the price takes off.
I risk 5% on the 12 pips, and aim for 5% daily profit. I use split exits preset at 8 and 12 pips, but this is highly variable depending on price action. I did this on demo for a couple of weeks and met my daily objective except for a couple of days when my SL discipline broke down because I was not trading the best trenders consistently.

I don't want to spend all day looking at M1 charts. And I live in Atlantic Canada and can't to be up at 04:00 to catch the London open, so I have to be quick and selective, starting about two hours before the US open. On days like today with bad price action (in my opinion) until after the last report, my days will be longer unfortunately, if I want to trade days like this at all. I only need a couple of trades if I don't have losers. Today I had a couple of trades at BE + ~2 pips and then this one and I was done with my 5%.

I've been using this trade manager on the one-month free trial and I find it great. Everything is one-click, except the quick-pending order which uses ctrl + click buy/sell. My pending is at my preset distance of 5 pips, which I then move around as I watch price (dragging the line).
This toy will also do trailing and other stuff I don't use, but the setup is simple to do for the EA. I had some issues with version 2.5.0 but this one is perfect so far on my small live test account. (I'm not an affiliate, and am just passing the info on - I first heard of it on another forum while doing google searches). If I continue profitably, I will buy the EA because there is no rocket science involved and it does exactly what I want.
Plus it gives you your account balances and profit for the day, week and month at a glance. (There is an error there because my profit today was actually 24.52, so it is confusing the profit on EU with the total daily profit). Lot sizes are set automatically when I load my template, with my 5% preset risk @ 12 pip stops.

I really believe in the power of compounding and am not a fan of endless hours watching ticks every day trying to make a hundred pips. That is simply not necessary for me. (Do a simple spreadsheet increasing a daily balance by 5% and it will give you a jolt, but I believe most people realize this).

Trading M1 charts requires a good feel for small price movements while in the trade. Clive's entry rule is simple enough, but exits are highly discretionary based on what goes on during the trade, so I need to be in full tune with the price movements to make the right judgement on exits within my parameters. I guess only experience can teach that, and I'm not interested at all in what happens after my exit because I know what I want.

Been too busy working today to trade but have just had a look and as usual its easy looking back and seeing what we should have done. Funny but I get these "hindsight" trades right every time...

But seriously just look at these charts

But just an hour later once the HMA's had sorted themselves out samr pair GBPJPY looking good...



So I'm thinking get the 5 min 120HMA sloping nicely with the 1 min 120HMA going the same way and hey presto we have a system...

The question is who is the master??? Do we open up charts according to the 5 minute 120HMA or the 1 minute 120HMA???

Don't bother answering Harry I know where you're coming from...

Just observing and not actually trading but is this possibly the way to go?? Wait for 1min and 5 min 120 HMA to agree then go for it???

Would of caught most of the above charts and kept you out of the GBPJPY chart when the HMA's were dancing together...Far better when they are the same colour and moving away from each other with price firmly the right side...



This GBPCHF chart shows it quite clearly, when price is above 1 min 120HMA but under a red 5 min hMA no trade, however soon as it drops down below the 1 minute HMA then away you go...

Hmmm looking to me like we have the 5 min as the master opening up our 1 minute charts to trade then when 1 min 120HMA is same colour go for it..
