I traded AUD Employment with Amazing EA. When i used manual straddling there was almost no slippage with Oanda's fxTrade platform but today i used MT4 because of EA and slippage was surprisingly big - 20 pips. So it seems MT4 platform is deeply flawed. I managed to grab +35 pips anyway but likely i will return to manual trading with fxTrade.

The slippage isn't MT4, but the broker you are using. You may want to look into ECN brokers to prevent slippage.

ECN brokers will not prevent slippage, its apart of the game.

It is impossible, cause execution is same for both platform. Maybe ea didnt manage good trade..

I would have to disagree against you. I personally trade with "real ECN brokers" in which during high impact news the spreads remain tight. Please be advised that I am speaking from experience, and not from "my understanding of how the market works" Brokers have the ability to control slippage, as allowing slippage allows them to have orders open which under normal market conditions would not.

The straddle method has it's pit fall, especially during high impact news. I personally would use the straddle method+ martingale only with an account of 25k or more, as I would have enough bullets to straddle the market into submission of about 10-20 pips. I'd say most times people try to go for the home run (100+ pips) when you can simply get there slowly.

Yes but there will still always be slippage with ECN brokers regardless..

Lol slippage is a fact of the markets, when price gaps thats slippage. You're telling me price doesnt gap when news comes out. LOL.

@SaiLyfee is right. In fact ECN brokers have more slipagge since the orders are real and you need real counterparts to fill your orders.

Can you provide some tick by tick proof of this 'HowAreYou'? Perhaps a tick chart of the Bid and Ask prices around high impact news releases. It would be a great advert for whatever broker you are using. Slippage is a fact of the markets - naivety will cost you dearly.

I can do something better. In several mins we will have "high impact news" for EUR. I will record the screen, and then upload it to youtube and share it for all to see. If one takes the time to really do enough investigation it will be noted that not EVERY broker has slippage.

For it to cost someone dearly that person would have to lack the ability of being a disciplined trader. Knowing that that the broker has the ability of widening spreads and causing slippage should warrant a trader to not open orders once the high impact news is released. Although you have a way to counter the slippage by using an EA, but that of course requires some level of coding.

Just to add one thing. If we simply ran the same test of testing out brokers, we will notice that some brokers will have "more slippage" then others. That of course is done by the actual broker and not by the "platform" as someone mentioned prior. I have seen even during NFP, with a real ECN broker the price being respected at the exact price with 0 requote. The reality is two different brokers have the same liquidity provider(s), and their slippage varies it would be suggest that the brokers themselves are doing it for their benefit. Once again it isn't advised to trade during high impact news, due to the increase possibility of slippage, but to have 10 pips of slippage or more or anything over 1 pip is insane.

A good video. However, it would seem you had a Buy Stop order at 1.07532 and it was filled at 1.07557 which means you had 2.5 pips of slippage. However, this is less than I would have expected. When I get some free time I'll do the same from my ECN broker account and we can compare results. In an ideal world we could get everybody doing this to compare slippage around big news releases.
