I noticed your GCAD loser was a counter trend and entered on M15, which a habit that lots of us did including myself when seeing divergence. The smaller TF we trade, the harder it get right since we have to look at lots of things such as levels, TDI of next HTF to see if it s not at o/b or o/s areas, recent PA to see if buyers or seller strong... When price was below 10ma 50ma 200ma I would only think of selling.
Counter trend is the hardest thing to do IMO whether divergence or at s/r . That's why I rarely go with M15 unless I have backkup from H1 M30 and decide to take small PT .
If one like to take trades on M15, I would suggest you find your edge such as only take TDI trades when price is below/above all 3 emas and reverse (10ema, 50ema 200ema) and having double tops/bottoms or having lower high.... to be safe ( I trade oil/gold on M15 sometimes entered on M5 during fast/volitile move hrs, but I tell u it's not easy).
Of course there are always some winners not following rules but would we want to sit there and be nervous while breaking rules
?The easy way is to find divergence/hidden divergence on small TF but with trend but avoid trade into s/r....
Here are 2 examples on GCAD M15 (during London hrs):
- divergence where price broke all 3 EMA and reversed (bounced 3 times and created lower high then headed down again)
- divergence counter trend facing 200ema (Longman's trade that failed) and hidden divergence with trend to show that it's safer to go with trend
If you don't have any EMA on your chart beside 200EMA, that's ok if you are good at reading PA (like driving without GPS unless you know your way
). If you don't even have 200EMA on, I bet you have to switch to a few charts to identify trend and S/R before entering your trades....By the way, I m not an expert on m15 so I would like to hear from others who have more experience on M15 to share for us to learn too.

absolutely superb post LK... no wonder i signed-up to this thread 
No need to trade CT when starting out and like LK says LTF trading is tough and nerve raking - I always look for the usual TMS 30M signal [i should say this involves looking up HTFs any way - if the TF is much higher like the D1 then a glance once per W1 is all you need] and then go below to the 5M TF to build my position (the latter is just a MM preference and you can just go in with 1 position or a few PT - MM is a personal thing

EA D1 ... @ Sep 2014 low... could see bounce before move down... came down strong from 200ema/supply/change-of-polarity/res etc...
NOTE i do not use the D1 and HTFs (W1, MN, etc) as an indi for my 30M trades cause, just like Phx62 says, there is plenty of pips to be made either way on the LTFs - in fact you would need a very large account and appropriate SL to absorb the DD or you could bias your trading in the D1 trend direction with tight SL (in the usual way) but i have not seen any statistics to say this will give you an edge - i would be most interested in this if someone can share? .

Interestingly, you made me looking at D1 chart again and found that it s very simple to trade D1 if one could bear with SL around 300pips to make 600pips or more by following D1 Tdi signals with 1st APB decent size confirmed (not small tiny, not too big)
and avoid trade into 200ema/ avoid trade into O/B or O/S areas, and if you have any edge such as pin bar/inside bar, bounce off 200ema....that can be a big winner....hahaha... same to smaller TF anyway,,,,just talking...

Here is an example of a stupid exit whilst trying to predict the market rather than observe current price action. Entry here was perfect but then I got nervous as it looked to me that the drop had completed as shown in first box, ie measured move. I got out with 13 pips and then the party started without me on boardshould have been 110 green not 13. {image}

If we treat D1 trades as an medium term like investing in any stocks out there, we have no issue holding it at all and of course we can hedge against them ( I used to buy and hold stocks/shares and buy puts options to protect them
)...and I would have it in separate account from my trading acct so I would not attempt to exit them premature...
