i have been looking back on trades like I always do and it appears to me that there always seem to be a stall at the +12 mark so what I am checking right now is this a 10 tick range bar chart with a stop of 12 and target of 12. the signals remain the same no other indicators needed. so if I find it profitable I will do this. so why look for less ticks? I am about making money $400 to $500 a day just like jtrade was looking to make. so whats the money risk its $240 per trade. I have always been about hitting targets and the 12 mark seems to be the sweet spot I will check and let everyone know later
ok based upon the following rules 10 tick range bar chart, 12 tick target and stop, when up 7 move stop to +1, when up 10 lock in 6 its a half win. the only indy is the macd/ha with the default setting but change it from exponential to wilders. take the signal as long as market is moving and its sloping up or down regardless of where it is. The hrs of trading is 830 am ny time to 12 noon. The goal is to net plus 2 wins a day. sometimes you get a win loss win loss win win and days like that happen but the net result is what counts. Jan had 19 trading days there were 19 out of 19 winning days perfect month. Feb also had 19 trading days 17 winning 2 losing for a net of 15 winning days. march had 22 trading days 21 were winning days 1 losing day for a net of 20. april so far had 5 winning days out of 5. so if you trading just 1 contract per trade you would had 59 net winning days of 240 dollars per day which equates to 14160 this yr
Cali - I know you didn't ask me, but my understanding is this an input choice in the macd/ha indicator that H is using within Sierra Charts. As a Ninja & TradeStation user, I'll be sticking with what I have.... unless it really washes whiter than white, in which case I'll see if someone at BMT will code it for us in NinjaScript.
H - v interesting and thanks as always for your very generous sharing. Yes, it's about making money : can't pay the bills with pips, ticks or percentages. Coincidentally, I was looking at a 9 tick range chart last weekend.
Here is what I know I have to do, based on the way I have now traded for many years (both longer & shorter t/f) : I have to trade 1 + 1, ie. a 2 lot, with a small initial target (possibly your +12 above with tight trail), then a runner. With CL, every week there's a possibility to nail a couple of trades >60 ticks, sometimes >100 ticks. So let's see : I'm going to contemplate this on the short hop over to London this afternoon and back tomorrow evening : travelling is always great thinking time. My goal is to get to 2 + 2 : traded successfully & averaging just 20 ticks per contract adds up to $16k/month.
td & I have also been looking for a suitable market for the European morning session : CL sometimes moves really well, YM also, 6b , 6E, the usual suspects. FDAX is the elephant in the room, but I approach it with great caution. FGBL, the bund, is another approach altogether - slow mover but lowish margin and huge size available. Well, just a load of pre-travel baloney from yours truly...
hey jt I did this because you said you were looking for 500 a day so 2 contracts and looking for 12 is a 240 dollar risk which is in the ballpark. looking for home runs is not a consistent tool to make money. just get singles like pete rose and you ll be at the top

Thank you for your input. When I am ready to trade this using Ninja, I will need the exact same indicator settings as Divergence has, otherwise what is the point?
