Well has been down-trending in a tight channel for the last ~6 months and made an effort to break out but may have just failed or is making a double bottom

Standing bye after being stopped out.

{quote} You have to look at both side since currency are paired up but of course you don't need to trade Aud/Usd pair. If Usd is strong and Aud is weak that would be the best pair to trade for short. Btw i lean towards weak aud and strong usd. You want to long strongest currency against weakest not just trading static pairs because you like that pair or whatever.

I ask about the fundamental, so I ask from aussie side

{quote} But then if I am long do I just tell everyone "the bottom is about to fall out of the market, get short now" and sit back for price to shoot up. Is this the holy grail that has been missing in my trading? If we can't share our opinions and can only report facts than the forum would be pretty dull. Maybe the poster in question needs to start a 'facts only' thread.

no no no.... sharing ideas is pretty good thing, as long as other traders who reading it know what market is. Bunch of newbies after reading someone's opinion jumping in trade and getting wiped out, because they don't know how to trade properly. This why this post was so awesome looking to me
It was a little sarcastic too if anything. .... Green Pips To All of Us

A nice reversal formation on the 1 hour chart testing the weekly lows,.... looking to go long as price retrace to the daily pivot point @ 0.7620 with stop loss 5 pips below the daily low. A price move above 0.7664 would be confirmation and price could spike to 0.7665-68 and possibly make a last retracement up to 0.7620 before breaking out of range.

The daily and weekly are still trending down with no respite so why trade against that?

Cos not a trending market (imo). Plus, data from Australia has been positive lately (mind you, I would suggest pitting against another currency - perhaps even a s/t GBP/AUD sell).

AUDUSD is more likely to test Channel support, near 0.7535, on the sustained break of 0.7590. On the extended decline below 0.7535, the pair could test 0.7400 mark.

time to start building on aud/usd longs. like it or not aud/usd is heading to 0.85. It is going to do what a cable did 2 years back. rebound from 1.48 to 1.67. Although I don't feel it will be more than 0.90 but I don't rule that out either.

Problem is when and how ? RBA wants to push rate lower to help miners and stimulate construction industry. We might see 0.74xx first before see 0.85

I doubt they cut rates tomorrow. China's economy is rebounding. they are getting the much required philip to their exports from china. as far as mining is concerned that is already factored in by RBA and even if they cut rates its not going to be of much use. demand is less. have to look beyond mining when viewing the aussie now

What were the factors in the cable rebounding 2 years ago (I don't trade it) and how do they apply to AUD/USD?

& fyi from your other post - RBA rate decision is not until next week and current probability of a cut is 73%.
Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

the cable rebounded when mervyn king came out and said that cable is too low. all of a sudden 200-300 pip move and then all the good data followed. aussie has seen some pretty strong data but has to catch up with the data due to the shitty dollar. the dollar's fate will be sealed today if ADP is bad
