AUDUSD landed on the 0.7700 level during NY section shortly after.

Anyway, I'd say, yeah, there is still room for the downward moves.
For instance, 0.7600 looks pretty reasonable for now which I stated it right before the AUD rate cut on 2/2

As for the risk,

  1. I see there isn't anything could stop dollar bulls as dollar push through 120.00 this morning
  2. As for AUD, all technical and fundamental indications are pointing for a weak AUD.
  3. China ISN'T doing too well as on 2/7 the Chinese business activity eases to eight-month low.
  4. Chinese manufacturing (PMI) has been decreasing for over 4 months now.

0.7600 is a pretty good place for my next target as we continue getting more Fed rumors on dollar mid-year rate hike.

Let's all hope so!!!...I shorted the past 2 days and grabbed 40-50 PIPS...let's all hope it goes to .82 to ratchet back down again!!! We all know it "should" tip over at some time!!!

Aussie-dollar opens in Sydney at $0.7710, toward the lower end of yesterday's $0.7694 to $0.7795 range, broad based US dollar strength the main influence, with commodity currencies coming under particular pressure on falling oil prices.

There are two major risk events for the local market; RBA's Assistant Governor Debelle will give a speech at the FX Week Australia conference (22:00 GMT), he may talk down the Aussie in the Q&A session that follows, Australian unemployment data is then due for release at 00:30 GMT, as usual, the data should see volatility increase. Hourly resistance is seen at $0.7750, initial support is noted at $0.7686 (hourly Bollinger band base)

One of my systems looks at 400+ pip moves and it's worth noting that in 14 years of AUD/USD data the largest down move before a 400+ pip up move was 2073 pips during the GFC. From the last peak at 9505 to recent 7626 trough is 1879 pips. History would thus suggest we will see 400+ pips up before we reach 7432. If 7626 remains the low then we should see at least 8026 which interestingly puts us in an area I expect resistance due to the lows of Jan 5 &7 and high of Jan 28.

If it's going to make 82 then it won't be without some significant resistance. Biggest factor on horizon that could push it that far or further is if the Fed were to push out interest rate rises. One article suggesting US employment rates are only low due to low participation rate suggests all is not rosy in the US and thus delay of the recovery (& thus delay of rate rises) is not unexpected.

Edit: as you are American I am interested in your take on the economy?

I'd expecting AUDUSD continue descending towards last week's bottom at 0.7620 level if the job number comes out worse than expected in 30 minutes.

Hello everybody, I think so too. If price closes below 0.77 zone, there will be a lot of downside momentum, 0.77 zone is very strong support, i think many stop losses placed there. Breakout to happen we need a catalyst, unemployment data ahead will be, at least i hope so
