{quote} leokatz, can you tell us why did you go to Alpari in the first place? Did you not know that it was run by Russians? Interesting to check what options did you have and what was your finals reason to go to Alpari. Bankruptcy is a lengthy process and the very first step is establishing the current situation. How much the company owes and how much it is owed. The law requests the administrator not to trust the company books, but to collect all claims and identity all debtors independently. All people who are saying they just have to use...

hmm, I certainly knew that one of the owners of Alpari is a Russian. So Alpari UK is about 30% Russian. The other shareholders are not Russians. So what? Are all British and Americans and Europeans honest people? And when I said that I switch to unregulated brokers? I have a total trading accounts in Cyprus, New Zealand and Australia. All regulated brokers. Leverage usually 400 to 500. It suits me best to work with high Leverage. Everyone is different. I trade intraday, and because a high Leverage is better. But who invested in the medium or long term, for a lower Leverage is better. And for me is not a broker in question, which is a market maker. Just who wants to keep open trades longer than a week, the Market Makers are interesting.

{quote} Next time, everyone, select your broker not by nice promises on the home page, but by doing due diligence. Stay away from brokers offering 1:500 leverage, check how their risk management is working: if they investigate their clients, monitor trading activity, calculate exposure. Do not put all eggs in one basket. And, finally, please, do not let your income depend on forex profit and broker stability, it is not good for health.

Ok, thats a point wel taken! But how can we get information about the brokers risk management?
If we relay on an simple statement on a web page saying they have a well managed risk department bla bla bla , we are in the same place as before, promises promises and promises.

For what I know, we should have some kind of disclosure about the brokers net exposure, net positions and hedged positions... etc.
Without some kind of disclosure anything else is flying blind.

All of us ar looking for new brokers now. It would be nice know about any broker that disclosures to the clients. Right now I think it's better than been FCA regulated.

BTW, that information emanco gave about receiving an email with statement, I didn't receive any other then the generic response appointing KPMG. Does any one else received such email?

Nothing received yet

However, I will give it the benefit of the doubt for a few days as with apparently 100000 customers it may take a little while to get all the emails out?

@ Wookey.
"If your account is less than Ģ50k you will get your money in full whatever happens"

If KPMG decide to take a percentage of our funds, are you saying the FCA will cover the deficit?

Hello , Does anyone here are in same situation as me ? I had a spreadbetting account with Alpari uk . With a small EURCHF long position. It was closed on the break of floor at 1.1993 with very minimal loss to me. However I am worried KPMG will alter that trade and push me in to a deep negative balance .. I have taken statements and screen shots.. The text in the risk management site of alpari used to say the following, however now going to the home page... you could still see the google cached page .... http://webcache.googleusercontent.co...&ct=clnk&gl=uk...

I am on similar situation but my account was not a spreadbetting... And my worry is the same as yours! I also made sure to save all screenshots, statements and etc. Please contact me if you want to discuss this further.

I think differently. Not the broker must make risk management, but the trader. Not the broker is responsible for my trades, but I do. You're trying to deport their own responsibility to a stranger.

i have funds with alpari and i dont trust them to release this to us "fast"> i live in central London why dont we (clients with a positive balance) just get a lawyer as a group and put some serious pressure on them instead of being simply frustrated ...
