{quote} Just as I suspected it appears the segregated funds are from 15 jan before the chf fiasco. Check this link from reuters: http://uk.reuters.com/article/2015/0...0KT1VZ20150120 The initial view in the early stages is that the client money is whole," the UK regulator said in a statement on its website. This refers to the money from customers of Alpari being kept in accounts separate from thecompany{image} itself,...

Dude SNB is the real culprit.Till late december they were positively leading everyone astray that
we are determined to defend 1.20.My only mistake "I trusted a central bank" and I am in a
big mess .If I ever trade again I have learned a lot of lessons most importantly unless there
is someway to guarantee the stop loss or hedge it or some new regulation comes about we
can again loose a lot if there is another blackswan.

I had an alpari uk account that registers now a negative balance. On the day of the peg removal I contacted alpari through their live chat service and asked what happens with the negative amounts, whether or not there is any interest and what happens in the time the balance is not leveled to 0 (money is not returned). Two different people of their staff told me that 1. alpari will ask customers to pay back money 2. there is no interest on negative balance 3. not repaying the amount only does not allow you to utilize the account.

I wonder how they are going to chase thousands of small retail customers outside the UK since I think that chasing those small amounts abroad might cost even more than the amounts chased.

guys i just had a call from KPMG returning my earlier call ,which is agood sign that they take of clients. The person I spoke to said she cant make any comments at this stage but assuring that the return of money should be done asap as it is stated as special administration. She cant give me any time frame for this process as it is a very early stage.
All I want to say guys there are some of you making stupid speculations this and that ,please do not do that.UK 's financial reputation is on the line here and I trust our regulators .FCA won't let this Alpari thing turning into another Lehman brothers.

Hi Claudia,

How guaranteed is it? Could you please elaborate. I want to know under what circumstances it will not work.

Thanks.

I don't use it but it's there and guarantee is a strong word for which a premium is being paid. It be difficult for them to get out of it. Must be in t & c somewhere.

'Guaranteed stops
Guaranteed stops protect you against slippage and therefore are the most effective way to put an absolute cap on any potential losses.
When you open a position, you specify the level at which you want your bet to be closed should the market move against you. In return for a slightly wider dealing spread, we will guarantee to close your position at that exact point, even if the market moves suddenly.
With a controlled-risk bet (a bet with a guaranteed stop attached), your maximum possible loss is known as soon as you open the position, making it an extremely effective risk management tool.'

Basically broker takes the risk in all circumstances for a worse spread. Kind of insurance.

In the future we may see it more expensive for any heavily manipulated currency.

By looking at what the main owner said today then there seems to be a conflict between the owners.

Guaranteed stops are usually offered by MM. For a MM goes to my trade a the opposite position. The MM will always trade against his client. Earned on the ECN broker with the customer. That's the big difference. In addition, MM manipulate most courses.

I seriously doubt IG are MM as they've suffered losses... it would have been the opposite if they were.

IG is a market maker but as long as you know their game it's not too difficult to play. Reason most retailers get hit because of putting tight stops on - personally don't use stops.

Yes they do manipulate but so do the central banks.

I've been looking at ActivTrades. They are an ECN and offer a 'negative balance protection' guarantee. I spoke to one of their guys today's and he confirmed that they cover all negative balances - if the market gaps and you end up on the downside, they will cover it.

http://www.activtrades.co.uk/index.a...nts_protection

FxPro do the same thing I believe.
We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit
