My understanding is that the reason Alpari suffered such huge losses is because customers are only liable up to the amount in their account. So if a customer had a balance of $1,000 and a CHF position that resulted in a $3,000 loss, the account would be wiped out and Alpari would suffer a loss of $2,000 that they would be unable to collect from the customer.

Apparently, as of Sunday evening, Alpari (UK) Limited has not yet entered a formal insolvency process and the directors have been working over the weekend to sell the business or raise funds. I see that the Alpari price feed is still working so if they've succeeded in finding alternative funding perhaps they'll soon be back in business.

unable i believe is not the correct word... its just very difficult.

in case (hope not happening) administrators entering the company they might change this decision and go after the clients who own money. as its nearly everywhere stated... trading may result in more loss than what you invested in....

check the case of saxo bank... i have read of a few cased of people that are asked to pay hundred of thousands of euros/us dollars way way way more than their initial investment just because of the SL taking place a "few" thousand pips....later
Sigh... it's built into the agreement with alpari that a trader is responsible for losses incurred on their accounts, even if it is greater than their initial investment. Those who ended up with negative balances will be chased to pay.

it's just the losses were so extensive Alpari had liquidity problems because losing traders wouldn't have paid immeadiately, in fact many may try never to pay.
I operate with clear definite rules, if I break them I lose BIG!

hope the client alpari UK can withdrawal the equity remaining in their mt4,,,,
can anyone recommend any good spread betting broker? with at least 1:100 leverage and MT4? so far i know is City Index but im not sure if they do MT4 with their spread betting accounts... IG markets is another but reviews of IG market are terrible.

Doesnt look like Tickmill do spread betting, nothing on their website about it.

Lmax.... i dont even understand their website....what are they selling to me??? what are they? a broker? they offer services to brokers? affiliates?

anyone did the same?

they claimed to be safe during the incident,

plus they offer promotions to clients who switch to them($5 redeem per lots traded,max 2000usd)

The longer Alpari takes to resolve the issue.....the bigger the damage to themselves......

I still can't get over how AlpariUK handled this.

I understand they suffered a huge loss but to keep clients in the dark like this is crazy. I am already upset because I lost half my account because they forced me to close my trades prematurely.

If they do continue to operate are they just going to pretend like it's business as usual and that none of this happened?

Just because they lost money why should I have to suffer?

The fact that there's no "we are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused" on their website makes me so mad. All they care about is their own personal interests. Well even if they do get a buyer half their clients are looking for other brokers as we speak.

I'm sorry guys it may be an overreaction but I still can't believe this.

Thank You nAVIN! By any chance do you have an ide how (from where) can I download alpari's MT4 .exe file. I removed the MT4 platform from my PC - don't ask me why on earth I did that Although I kept it on my iphone Thank You in advance!

Still no comfirmation from alpari dubai as representatif office for asia, i can't access and just wait for good news.

Better if alpari make calm their customer and no black campaign info. Please i wan my money back.
At this moment in time , you need a reputable Broker , well regulated and who is reliable , I have goggled Ironfx and there are a few negatives on various forums so for me they are out.
IG index looks promising but for some reason my EA is not working there whilst it works on all other MT4 brokers .
I will wait a bit longer to see what happens to FXCM , OANDA looks good but I noticed some weird Spreads at the closure last Friday , e.g GBPAUD had a huge sprerad of 76 pips , whilst GBPUSD had something like 35
These kinds of things would never happen at Alpari , they were so professional , reliable and honest .Please let us know of any Brokers who are reputable , reliable , whose MT4 Platform works with normal EAs and Which do not manipulate Spreads
