If your time available to trade is small due to your full time job the option is to go down the lowest tf ie. 1m tf becos the cycles are shorter so the setups ala clive has greater chance to appear during your trade window. The other option is to position trade >1h tf. Anything in between with longer cycle compared to 1m tf will depend on a bit of luck whether such setups do occur. So its a question of preference for intraday or position trade. Whatever the tf the base abcd method works. The only difference to identify cd trades is the use of different indicators and/or tf as some posters have showcased here.Your question about ab trade is valid and good but not in line with cliff's thread here. To my knowledge, this is the most difficult setup and I don't recall any thread on ff to address this ab trade(trend reversals) specifically. It can be done but the approach is totally different, not here. Maybe some other space and time.

Realistic post. To add my perspective, for Mr V its 10000hrs many moons ago. This rookie of rookies clocked 2 decades from the days of usddm and still much to learn as a rookie.....lol. Jokes aside, until you are truly convinced, the day the trades you make will make a significant change to your lifestyle will not happen.....all it's worth is such and such x pips.

As for research, there are many threads well reseached, developed and tested by many posters contribtion here on ff, this thread included.


The reality is the RESEARCH of thousands upon thousands of hours starts from these base principles in above para, choose the one you like, makes logical sense to you, suit your personality and fit your lifestyle. The tweaks and retweaks, do and redo every single itinerary then multiply that by x moons is what it entails. The long screen time is necessary to prove why it will not work that well as first assumed at first glance. That should be 99% of the work done for a trader. When you have completed this99% part then you are ready to begin the 1% ie. to place trades after that 99% is completed. I am not that clever so my ongoing 99% cycle takes that long......lol.....just thinking aloud if anyone took such a loooong time like me? Guess not!

fair point.i was just putting a ? To the group...as clive knows we miss the first abc of any move and to improve clive method or entry you could say..i asked could we or is there a way we could capture part or all of the lost abc at the start

i would like to appologise to all for.my.comments over the past couple.days.

this thread is about helping with ideas and sharing so everyone has something others have and can give back.

i will say tho i dont appreciate comments about me that are unjustified because no.one here knows.anyone else.well enough to judge.

i took somethings personally and was close to.leaving myself.

so guys please keep personal.comments out and trading ideas and sharing info/indicator/templates to the group

You did nothing wrong. Do keep up your spirit as always.

One thing you must understand, this is public forum and you can not expect everyone saying nice words. All depends on loss / profits they make on a particular day.

But I shall appreciate if anyone bring something new to upgrade this ABCD system and keep this thread live.

Hi Navk

Couldn't agree more but I will say if this starts to degenerate into personal insults then I will just ban the culprits immediately , there will be no warnings by the way I will just banish them forever, can't be dealing with such nonsense theres just no need for it.

Anyway on a positive note don't worry this thread will keep going as I will soon have my work under control and will be trading every LO and NYO for about an hour each day... Will post my trades as per normal when I do...

Lets keep it going and lets keep it clean and friendly or else!!!!!!!

Good to strongly disagree with me, as that's the whole essence of life - we disagree to agree.

Yes Clive's ABCD method can be traded on any TF but if I understand Clive very well, and some of us here came from a similar M1 thread that uses the Ichimoku cloud and TMA on the one minute chart; my understanding was and still is, that you find many opportunities on M1 TF as price forms an ABCD pattern or 1-2-3 price wave above/below the cloud or the 100 LWMA. We also noticed that this kind of trading allows for smaller stop loss, which can also be quickly moved to break even. Therefore if my goal is to make 25 pips daily, it should be easier trading the M1 to M5 TF. Clive therefore came up with this novel TTindy that points to the top 8 pairs to consider, narrowing down the choices.

Does that mean the method cannot be adapted and used on the HTF? It can but is that the objective of this thread? Don't worry about this last comment or question as I'm just thinking out aloud and wondering. If we mix too many things on the thread, then those coming behind (newbies) will find it difficult sifting through to learn the system. Just my thoughts and I may be wrong. Another thing is, one will probably need bigger SL and will get higher returns too for the risk trading HTF; but with most of us having very little capital, at least for me, CAPITAL PRESERVATION will be the uppermost thing on my mind when trading. This I guess is the reason why most end up with break even trades and when the runners come, you are compensated. But on the other hand, we can also take orphan profits and you will be surprised how 10 trades of 3 pips profit on a full size account brings you to your daily goal. I am talking from experience as I have doubled my account in 2 weeks, then changed to a HTF then lost the money. I am back to M1 & M5 and gradually recovering. Again, this is just my experience FWIW.

Therefore my friend, if my understanding of the goal of trading on the LTF (especially M1, and probably M5 too) is wrong, please forgive me as it is not my intention to cause any misgivings here. We're all just here to help ourselves make money. My goal is to trade full time and was hoping to start this month but unfortunately still waiting for the company to get a suitable replacement, while I use the opportunity to also ensure I am consistent in my trading.

Agreed, ABCD method can be traded in any TF. It is just ABCD concept.

Understandable, trading in Lower TF ( 1 OR 5 MIN ) will have tighter stop loss, unlike HTF.

The TT indy analyses 1 and 5 min strength which is the basis for trading in 1 min.

If the TT Indi is set to 5 and 15 min, one can trade in 5 min.

What I wanted to bring in here was that you can trade in 1 or 5 or 15 min TF but only after analyzing the daily candle,1hr and 4 hr on HTF. This is important.

I found a different way of analyzing HTF trend but trade in 5 min ( mostly not in 1 min ). I posted some charts here.

Constructive ideas are always welcome but not criticism.

george,,,and navk i do fully agree with your postings.

if i may just clear up a slight mis-understanding if there is one,,,,by trading higher timeframes i dont mean look for abcd method on h1 instead of m1 chart ,,,cos george i agree SL etc would be bigger and drawdowns bigger.


my meaning or idea i guess you could say is this...

still take the analysis and method on m1 chart as per the method of clive

rather then be stopped out for break even cos stops are quickly moved up ,,,im saying could we also look up the timeframe for positive signs of trend continue in our direction.
for me i would use m1,,once i enter a trade i would look for signs on m5 that trade is in same direction
again then onto m15,,,h1 h4 etc
once i have my highest time frame i wouldwatch this time frame till it comes to the end of its move.
i would then proceed into the opposite analysis in that i would come down to the next lower time frame
so h4 to h1 to m15 etc
until i could get to m5 or m1 to exit
therefore in both case,,,entry with minimum SL applied to and exit of having as many pips profit as possible.

when navk came up with the higher tf candles over price,,this in effect was a similar method.

so in conclusion i guess instead of staying on m1 chart and posibbly banking 10 to 20 pips
by going higher timeframe we could bank 100pips plus.

if im missing something please enlighten me,,,like all we only know so muchand am always learning more.

ps...someone please tell me what an orphan trade is?

Guys its really good to see all the posts fly in reminding everyone to be polite even if disagreeing with their view point, but its to late for me I have had to endure snipes like BOLD PRINT littered with remarks about glasses, hearing aids and sentences like(is that any clearer old timer) I took no offence and took it in the light hearted way its was meant to be taken after all he is the boss, but it did open the door to a guy who in is FIRST post mentioning me, after making a valid point finished with (may I join in isint it about time you had your afternoon snooze in the chair? at your age lifting a finger to type on a keyboard must get very tiring for you) Well I thought am I going to now keep getting these type of remarks all the time, so I warned him that I to would sink to his level and reply to him in the same way, guess what he carried on, when I tried to close the matter and wishing well in his journey in forex he replied with a threat of HARSH WORDS so although this does not bother me for the sake of Clive I will not respond and try close the matter yet again.
This has so upset me that after picking a tag of OAPDave how it seems to give licence to these type of replies even from guys I have not even posted to, so cannot at that time have caused any offence to need a reply in that manner I cannot see the point and it caused me great offence
Can I just thank MR V, Godsclown and Navk that during our brief exchange of posts they did not feel the need to make any reference to my disability of age. I really after all these years of lurking on threads wanted to join in one, but I don't need the stress of all this, and cannot believe it wont happen again
Let me finish by wishing you Clive and ALL yes ALL your members much success in the path of Forex wealth, I for one will carry on with your 100lwma in the way I set out to you, but will never join or take part in any thread again.

On views I would be interested in yours or anyone else as to why so many guys had got the swiss trade so badly wrong only from a chart perspective, also you might find this guys blog interesting I find him and his thoughts bang on

Verging on cyber bullying - easy to engage in because the bullies cannot be seen. At least one person was man enough to apologize so maybe you could stick around for a while longer and see if the other bullies see the error of their ways. That way, should the forum environment become more respectful of all participants,you would consider continuing to contribute.

simply what the swiss done was market manipulation.they knew what they were doing and they made a huge amount of money from it at others expense.no one could see it comming..but to.answer your question the answer is money management.Exampleyou.keep all your money in alpari account...you lost the lot.you.keep 10% in alpari and 90% in bank..you only lose 10%alsoif you trade responsible using money management and stops you lose a fraction of your 10%
provided your broker dont go bust

After the disastrous affects on some brokers from the CHF "removing their peg" situation and Alpari going broke plus some brokers are apparently pursuing their clients that hold a debit account with them due to the CHF situation. Its worth looking into which brokers don't pursue you but in fact reduce your debt to zero...

Well heres a statement from FXCM that clearly states that's the case with them...

"It is FXCM's policy to credit retail trading accounts to a zero balance when debit balances occur as a result of trading on FX or CFDs. One of the greatest concerns traders have about leverage is that a sizable loss could result in owing money to their broker. At FXCM, your maximum risk of loss is limited by the amount in your account. All accounts are tracked by our "Margin Watcher" feature. With the Margin Watcher feature, if account equity falls below margin requirements, the FXCM Trading Station will trigger an order to close all open positions."

Further to that for UK clients they also segregate their clients money so that if they had gone bust , your money would of been safe.

"
"FXCM UK protects the deposits of their retail customers through the segregated accounts described above. These funds cannot be used for other creditors. In the unlikely event that FXCM Limited is unable to satisfy repayment claims, eligible claimants have the right to compensation by the FSCS. The FSCS is the UK's compensation fund of last resort for retail customers of authorised financial services firms.
FXCM's clients whom are eligible would be placed under the 'investments' claim category, whereby the cover is £50,000* per person per firm. Also they have an incredible totally free training facilities including 3 or 4 live trading sessions every day with experienced Traders.

And lastly they have fairly competitive spreads so all in all I'd say they are a very good broker to use IMHO.....
