Your funds are in a different account, in case of a broker bankrupt the customer funds remain untouched. That's the case with any broker out there

I apologize for my naivety but can someone explain to me what happens from here?

I had $2000 in my account, does that mean because they are insolvent that we all just lose our money?

They closed off all my open trades , so I lost $800- is that $800 just gone? Because I don't think it's right to force a client to incur a loss by closing their trades.

Is there anything we can do?

They will shortly update you with the process of how to get your money back, they have to (their regulator will make them). Start the normal withdrawal process if you still can, keep an eye on their website and the website of their regulator, send them an email too to see if their is a process managed by them to get your money back.

Alternatively you need to wait for an administrator to be appointed, they will then manage the withdrawal process.

Irrespective of the process, it will take months. I was with a large broker years ago that went bust and it took a year and a half to get my money back.

I think the money bit is sort of separated from the data bit. I get my data feed too, but i cant do shit.
With a demo account its JUST the data bit, so why shouldnt it work?

For me it was sort of a good thing it happend NOW and not in a few weeks when i would have been trading full time, and lots that sort of mattered.

I opened a trade a couple of hours ago but it was closed a few minutes later at -15 pips. Would have been in profit by by now. Luckily it was only a very small amount, but still not a good situation
Right, moving forward, IMO its best to withdraw all funds and move on with this issue. I am in the same boat as all of you out there. My question to everyone is, putting in a withdrawal now (bank transfer withdrawal) would be actioned by Alpari today? I live about 30 minutes from their head office so am thinking to go down there as I have large funds in my account and I cannot wait months for it to be processed back to me.

Regardless of how the laws are ment to apply and stuff, they sort of have to give the money back since otherwise i think they might get some more problems, especially with the customers who at least had a few mill in their accounts.
