EDIT: Nevermind about the trade part, EA just took a sell on EURUSD, so that seems to be working but the error keeps popping up in the Journal.

Hey folks. Hope all are doing well and getting many pips.

@GoogleTrader
Hey I got the following error. This is using EA v1.1. My settings are all at default with autostep /autoinitialstep off.
I ran EA v1.0 and got the same looking error. t may be a that the last GetLastError() was not captured properly? The EA did take some trades yesterday but after that nil.
I'm a programmer if u need input/comments let me know. Thnx and great job on the EA.

Hey Google,

I noticed on your trade explorer, there were 4 trades in a row from yesterday that closed with losses. Were these trades closed manually or did the EA close them?
I love forex. One day it will love me back.

Was thinking another possible filter might be time based.
Anytime price takes off in a straight line against the current trend it will hurt big time. A 100 pip move will land you with a 550 pip DD.
Seems to me that price usually has an opportunity to retrace (thus hitting our TP) if it's going gradually. It's the sudden surges that are dangerous (that's why we shouldn't trade around major news).

So what if the EA was limited in the amount of time that had to pass between trades. Say 5 minutes or whatever. So if price took off 60 pips in a minute it would only open 1 order...then place the next after the time interval.

Just spit-balling.

Yeah relatively easy to implement also. This can be reflected in certain threshold within several volatility indicators (for example make it have grid orders when volatility is between "20" and "80", any spike above/below, most of the times caused by news = skip or remove grid orders). Simple tweaking of RSI settings and corresponding them with the EA will work also ofc.

Just trying to brainstorm how to improve performance on market turns. Let's say we are on downtrend placing sells, then trend changes to buy. Rather then continue to place sells and hope for retrace, EA could place immediate hedge on open sells. That would freeze the open trades and on many brokers, wouldn't cost anymore margin. Then EA can continue to add buys into the new trend until TP is hit and the whole basket closes.

I agree with Robert and spyderman to reduce the risk
Spyderman : could you explain your idea about a "freeze"...I don't understand

I think it would be interesting to apply hedge when comunity trend changes.

example:

trend comunity UP:
0.1 buy lots at 1.1800
0.1 buy lots at 1.1790
0.1 buy lots at 1.1780
0.1 buy lots at 1.1770
0.1 buy lots at 1.1760

trend changed to DOWN. apply hedge

sell 0.5 lots at 1.1750<=0.5 is the sum of all buy lots
sell 0.5 lots at 1.1740

to exit the trade with profits.

Equity increased by 45% since yesterday! still running version 1. 8 trading days. 220% increase since I started the test.
The spike on USDCHF did not affected the Performance of this EA. Some how there was no open trade on this pair when the spike happened...

Similar to what Clipi wrote in post #506. If trend changes to down with 5 buys open you just open a hedge sell order equal to the total lot size of your buys. Now those orders are "frozen" in that no matter where the market moves you won't gain or lose ground (not factoring in spreads and swaps obviously). From that point the EA would operate normally taking sells (at the regular lot size, not increased lot size as Clipi suggests IMO) until a TP is hit. Then EA closes all orders including the hedged basket.
