hi Jakeparkin,

i am doing it manually too.

what's the distance you use to enter into a trade? i am taking 10pips distance to establish a buy stop/sell stop.

Hi, great to see someone else doing this manually and havin success (I hope). I go wider than that to be honst, between 12 and 15 pips. What do you use as a take profit?

i am doing a 2:1 ratio... using ATR to set stop loss and take profit.

I almost gave up. I spent too much time facing brokers tricks (large spreads at news time, slippage, platform frozen etc.. etc... ). It is very hard to be profitable. Good luck

Well done. Just be careful your broker will let you withdraw!

I used to use an Excel File with each news on 1 row and each parameter in 1 column. On another sheet I copied 1 row and pasted using the Transpose option to change into a column of settings, then copy/paste into a Set file.

Unfortunately there is no way to hide the Pending Orders - I tried before to make an EA that used 'Virtual' Pending Orders where if a level was crossed you placed a Market Order, but it didn't work fast enough and in a fast market orders were rejected etc.

This function already exists in the EA. One of the reasons I setup the PointsGap option is so that orders can be opened 20-30 seconds before the news and kept far away to prevent whipsaw spikes activating them early. The constant modifying of the orders keeps the terminal alive and prevents the issue where you have to be reauthenticated.

Alan, I am just curious. What do you mean by "Just be careful your broker will let you withdraw"?

Do you mind to share more about your experience in this?

Some brokers will use any excuse to refuse withdrawals. Like, you traded on 'invalid' prices etc. I haven't experienced this personally but I think it depends on the amounts and how you are operating the account.

For example, you fund 10K and within 2 weeks make 15K, then withdraw all of it, then fund 20K but this time make 30K and withdraw all again.

The broker is likely to be alarmed by this and even just messing you about withdrawing might be enough to scare you away.....

On the other hand if you fund 5K and make 10K over the period of a year, I doubt anything would happen !

Have a look at the Forex Peace Army website, there are plenty of stories on there.

yes alan you are right ........my friend has experience about that in last few days. he is trade with insta forex using amazing EA ....
they provided one of account specially for scalpers and it is zero spread (eurica)my friend deposited 500 usd and while last NFP
he made 120 usd profit
but insta fx didn't allow to withdraw profit and removed his profit from trading account .......asking by costomer care and
they replied by mail : "you have traded with invalid price"

and instafx suggest to not to modify pending order before 5 minute in expected time

Though the problem of slippages is so bad. It can ruin it all.
I was just wondering, do you know of an EA that instead of pending orders can execute market orders
(say when the 1m or 1sec candle of the release time has moved a certain amount of pips)?
It could solve the slippages

Slippage often occurs in buy stop or sell stop, trailing stop, stop loss and market orders !!
But slippage almost never happens in the limit orders (buy limit or sell limit including Take Profit). If there is slippage in the limit order then it will give additional profit to trader.
The cause of Slippage:
• gap
• illiquid / big volatility / large volume of current news events.
• price manipulation by certain Dealing Desk brokers / Market Maker (not by ECN / STP / NDD brokers).

Thank you for the answer! Limit orders cannot help us in anyway because most of us try to buy the price that is moving up and sell the price that is moving down. Only stop orders can do that.
Of course slippage can occur in any kind of order but what I was saying is that in market orders we can prevent it (setting the maximum deviation. It prevents opening the position in case of the slippage being larger than we set). While in pending orders we cannot set such max deviation.

To make it short, I wish someone could make an ea with market orders. And even better: for mt5 + with market orders. I was using Alparis MT5 live account for about a month and was never slipped. It has "fill or kill" order. I was trading up to 0.4 lots.

Amazing Straddle EA can't be changed to be market orders, but it can be changed to be straddle limit orders which is totally different in the way it works. Straddle limit EA can only be used in news events that reverses right away after moving certain pips.

You mean like employment etc with conflicts. Great idea! How do you change this ea to make limit orders instead of stops? Need to manipulate the code?
