Oanda keeps spread on GBP/USD around 11 pips, we are 5 - 15 minutes after GBP Manufacturing Production m/m !!!!!!!!!!!

Edit: 7th minutes after news: spread 11 !!!!!

Edit: 12 minutes after news.... SPREAD IS stuck


15 pips for the 15 minutes following the news. I have captured the chat conversation and with all my respect, I'm keeping it for me for now.

Oanda are MM and can do with the spread whatever they want. It's up to you if you keep playing their game, or just find a decent broker.

It wasn't even worth it bro. It doesn't even lift!

By the way, congratulations on being sober. I love vodka but I only drink once in awhile. I want to update my experience from last weeks NFP. I had analyzed and prepared for 3 weeks and then at the last minute I decided to try to be clever and trade both the CAD Employment and NFP and also to take both sides of the trade. By the time I got to the currency pair I wanted to buy for NFP I didn't have enough margin.

Then I tried to scramble to close a position but I could not figure out how to manually do it. So, I had to sit there and watch my original trade idea explode 3000 pips over the next 5 hours. It was horrifying.

Hahaha, this whole post is hilarious, it made my day. LOLLL Aren't we all gonna go through the same isht before we get there. At the same time I feel sorry for you bro and I feel you... the trade exploded 3000 pips, horrifying hey? I feel your pain ... why: Because I lived it too.... goddamn alarm. I feel a little better now that USD/CAD retraced down.

I really thought AUD was going to lift. Got stopped out. Really disappointed.

This is not as easy as it seems. Apparently we have to observe the low bid price and the high ask price. The price on the candlesticks are not sufficient.

The Oanda support staff explained to me the reason I was stopped out was because the "low bid price" hit my stop loss.

Initially when I checked just the candlesticks, the price didn't hit my stop loss. However, when you overlay the low bid price, as I have done above, it became obvious why I was stopped out.

So guys, remember to overlay the low bid price and high ask price. Not sure how it's done on MT4 but this can easily be done on fxTrade, Add Study -> Price Overlay.

Oanda is the best broker you can trade with they match trafes internally then excess get hedged by them if large position they hedge it outside
They wide spreed to keep news traders out and guess what they have the rigth tondo so as they will only loss and customer will make market more volite than it is no chance to hedge there position or get out and enter in such time .
They are honest there trasding module is described very well and they are proffisional .

I Traded AUDUSD (Employment Change - Unemployment Rate) in morning and my SLs hit.
But reaction to AUDUSD News (Employment Change - Unemployment Rate) was in late minutes......

have you been short? If you read very good post 1, Tony explains that we trade only longs for that reason.

Tony do you usually let your trade run for hours after news release? How long do you hold your trades? For example the chart above the trade is opened when news is released at 8:30am EST but trade is closed after more than 2 hours later.

Yesterday's retail sales I quit the trade after making 10 pips no more than 10 mins after news release. I thought it failed to lift.

In your experience what qualifies as a lift? A dramatic instant lift that happens in seconds or a gradual and prolonged lift that we have to wait for hours?

Hi Mina, try to only deal with the "big fishes" or major news. There are about 3 or 4 per month and I will update them on page no.1. A good news is gonna give you an instant lift/drop of 40 pips in seconds... like NFP. What happens after doesn't matter, I could let the trade fly or drop for days... as long as it reaches its destination of 120 pips. You could also take profit on the instant 40 pips but I have learned with the years to not be greedy and patience is a virtue.

Very good point, and this shows you're an excellent student I'm just kidding When the week-end comes, close all trades!!!! This is a golden rule. If the market crashes during the week-end, your SL will not be respected. I will include this in post 1
