What's up with slippage, platform freezes and other angry comments, one recent comment:

I am directly addressing Angus Walker/Head of trading/Ic markets.
I advised one of my friend In Uk to open the account with Ic Markets. The reason being Ic Markets claim to be True/Ecn Broker..spreads are less as compared to other broker. So a huge amount was deposited. We lost more than 27K of US Dollars in just under Two months of time. Perhaps the people would llike to know the reason including yourself. Basically I am a very expereinced chartist/strategist nd learn technicals a great deal and then lost this much money. Mr. Angus You know that I have lodged complain many times with your support team and always got a negative response. They do not seems to an swer the real issue and just give the lame excuses of the problems.Anyway here are some of the reason where we lost our money.
reason number 1..you freeze your platform during the nes time and all other fast moving markets and you know I have informed this many times to your support team. Reason number 2. Slippage problem. Your platform or system is not atall good to trade on news time. Some times you take the pending order afer the mrket move 30 to 50 pips..wow its great how people can win under this situation. The slippage is too much not only in news time but ven during all day when even small spikes are occured. You always fail to take the order from the point the order is placed.5 to 10 pips are very normal slippage..so trading with pending orders is the biggest falure for the clients. So my conclusion that I was wrong to select you because of low spread. what is the use of low spreads when there is so much slippage. In this scenario you are charging 4 times more that the other brokers. And hence I advice you please stop doing this otherwise I can give you guarantee that Ic market will have no future atall..I am seriously thingking of closing the account with you if you will not stop this malafide practice. This is people hard earned money and regretfully they lose because of the brokers negative tactics. Kindly look into the matter seriously Mr. Angus Walker as you are the Head of Trading and a senior Officer at IC Markets.Please please take this matter serious othewise we will soon close the account with you. For your information Sophia Yaqoob is your honourable Client and if would like I will give you the account number as well..Hopefully I am awaiting a reasonable respons from you...Do the business with honesty and close your operations completely if you cannot observe honesty. airmac, These kind of comments are common for almost every broker while understanding the fact that many people lose money in forex, you can't expect happy comments all over the board. IC Markets is an honest True ECN Brokers they even don't offer Bonuses or Prizes like other brokers for dirty marketing.
There are more than 100 forex brokers in this field. You have all the rights to read reviews and do some research on Brokers

Hi airmac,I agree with you that 30 to 50pips slippage is too much. However, if one places a pending order just before news and hopes to catch a good breakout price, its probably not going to work. The only variable is the amount of slippage one receives. Maybe at ic markets you get 30 to 50 pips slippage (which i agree with you is horrible) (i am a ic markets IB too). Maybe at global prime you get 10pips slippage, at axi u get 15pips. My point is while 30 pips slippage is too much, anyone placing a pending order before news and hopes to trade a breakput is fooling himself. It wont work om any broker. This guy is clearly not very smart to have placed pending orders before big news.I am very open to discussion on brokers performance. On the other hand ICM offers a generous looking commission discount, and on top still save enough to compensate the IB too...
As for true, I don't believe that any sub 1 lot ECN order executed as true ECN order. One way or another, if it executed it simple a confirmation it isn't true ECN at work!

Of course, this goes for any or all similar brokers, and not particularly only for ICM.

thye can simply say they are an ecn when they just send a small portion of the order through. not really much help, but sometimes i just go to the live chat and ask for the latency of a specific order. give them the order number and sometimes then send back a screenshot and you can see something like "integral" cleared it or another.

First of all you are wrong that i am not a trader but this should not effect on journey to choose the best broker on earth. I understand that comment you quoted from FPA. Slippage is common issue during NFP or other very high impact news releases. Anyone who places pending orders just before news must understand the spread fluctuations from liquidity providers, They simply don't allow retail traders to pick an easy move in a short period of time. If it was that easy all us were millionaire.

The point is that how can you choose a broker with this attitude?

All brokers have positive/ negative remarks and each and every broker face problems at some stages of their business. You name a broker and i can show you more worst comments and the debate will not end.

I got the message which says mini terminal and trade terminal app will expire on 2nd dec what ddoes this mean?

are they not providing this app any more? why?

I was with IC only for the reason I liked this app because I am scalper.

Hi I'm new here. I heard of horror stories regarding hybrid ecn brokers who pretend to offer ecn but are actually market makers for the majority of their clients. So I stumbled upon IC Markets because they claim to be a "true ecn". Is this true? (no pun intended). I heard that a "true ecn" broker would only accept trades at multiples of 0.1 lots in order for the said trade to be accepted by their liquidity provider, otherwise everything else goes into their own market where they trade against you. But there was no such lot size limitation stated on IC Markets' website, so I'm pretty doubtful...can any kind soul clarify?

IC Markets business runs on True ECN Model. Each and every order always get filled from real market.
ECN Brokers earn from client commission and they do want profitable clients that can generate large volumes and high frequency trading. Liquidity providers does not limit retail traders to specific lot sizes, this is just a propaganda against ECN brokers.

Thanks alot But even well known brokers like Alpari have fake ECN accounts like their market account with only a minimum deposit requirement of $200. Their "true" ECN account is their pro account with a lot size limit of 0.1 multiples and but there is a steep entry requirement of $20k deposit. So I'm kinda sceptical about IC Markets with their low deposit requirement and no lot size limitation

Forex is OTC Market with no standardization so every broker comes out with their own words.
I can't say anything about Alpari business but as per my knowledge IC Markets is True ECN broker.
