Does anyone have experience with IC Markets or FP Markets? I'm looking for my new broker after a few months break from trading (family reasons). Too many contradictions online, I need traders with real live experience with them.
Hi, I trade with FP Markets. They're very good. They have everything I personally looked for in a broker: ECN pricing, low spreads, great execution, low slippage, good platforms and trading tools. And most important - well established and they take great care of their clients. Highly recommending them, they don't disappoint so far.

I also think that FP markets is a better choice between the two.
Risk Management is of utmost importance!
They offer to open an account with IC Markets, is this a normal broker? Different reviews about them.

How about opening an account with both and seeing which works best for you?

IC is great due to the fact that they provide 500:1 for metals and energies also.. at least for GOLD and WTI that I tested...
but the issue that I have is that they do not offer neg balance protection... so I would advise to add some (dedicated) limited company, if possible, in between, for additional protection...
Can you afford to take that chance?

I would not open an account with IC (reviews),
I would open an account with FPMarkets (reviews)

but I currently have an account with Global Prime (reviews)

2nd im using ICmarkets past year and half. 1:500 leverage, i also use IG for ISA account(UK only)

the spreads at myfxbook should be accurate but ticking commission doesnt always give precise cost

Interesting thread! I have been with ICmarkets for a while now, but honestly speaking their Trading conditions are not as competitive as they used to be and specifically their support have gone to the dogs recently, takes ages for them to respond .

I am in process of switching brokers and i think FP Markets does look like a worthy option considering their spreads and lower commissions. Their reviews are mostly positive, not easy to maintain for a brand that is around for almost 15 years.

Will get in more detail about them before i decide.

Perfect example to show how pathetic IC Markets support currently is

I did some research and inclining towards moving my account with FP Markets. Can't find any real concerns tbh. In fact, i think i will be getting better spreads with lower commissions .

I can see that they offer free VPS from day 1. Any idea which VPS provider they work with?

Hi Not to defend IC but to offer a reason.
There is a difference with our broker timeshift but.......with IC cTrader printed.

I traded ASX shares through FPM over a decade ago, they were great back then and very professional.
FX is a different game of course, open to broker interference, but I am inclined to think FPM dont operate that way.
I am considering opening an account with them myself.

Yes, no doubt there was a huge drop in price on the news.

But look very close at the chart posted, note the time along the bottom, and the vertical line that indicates a new day.

Data clearly stopped at 3 am as I mentioned.

Compare that to what I now have, again, study the time stamps along the bottom.

I traded with icmarkets, they are ok. In general icmarket and fpmarkets are also brokers under asic license
