The power of range bars

2 trades last night, both on GBP pairs, seems to me that for quite a while now the its 1/2 currencies that move each day while the rest jump around and today was GBP.

Rocky point, I really appreciate your insight and openness on this public forum. I found your strategy using the BB squeeze to be well developed and well thought out, and it has added a new "breakout" dimension to my normal way of trading range bars, which is mainly based on pullbacks during a trend, and short term double tops. Here is a screenshot of todays action on eurusd. The yellow dots you see are where the BB enters entirely within the Keltner channel. This was the first trade I took using much of your methodology, with a bunch of mine sprinkled in. I took trade on the break of the local swing high (But it actually looked a bit different live because my historical data changes my range bar charts slightly)
I have one question for you. I notice that you sometimes choose a swing low and swing high prior to the squeeze, but other times you choose at least one swing after the squeeze. Would you care to elaborate on why you do this?

In rare cases you do not trade a break of the last swing low/high. As an example, see post 331. You drew your swing low line a few swing lows after your swing high. In most cases, you appear to choose the last swing low/high prior to the squeeze. In researching this, I think I now have the answer. Is it due to non-confluence of the RSI and ADX? i.e. If there is a break but the RSI and ADX are not in agreement, do you shift the price line forward to the new swing low?

Yes I normally draw a price level at the first swing hi and first swing low. I will change that when I see(case in point post 331) a more significant level in that
case the swing high hit same level 4/5 times which tells me I need to see a strong break to upside b4 taking a trade a long trade. Hope that helps.

Too bad looks like thread is fading away. Been away visiting friends for a few days in Isla de Mujueres. 2 trades last night went to bed around 3 my time moved the sl's to b/e got up about 30 mins ago closing out trades now.

one trade last night use my squeeze system but picked the pair by using a new indicator for me that measures the strength of an individual currency not pairs worked pretty good. I'll see how it works, its free. Theory is you find indvidual currencies moving in opposite directions to trade you can get info for 1min. up to 1 month for the 8 majors which then gives you info on 28 pairs.

I thank the BOJ for my win today. Luck helps. Did not expect this one.

Been playing with new indicator that measures strength of individual currencies(8 majors only which gives you 28 possible pairs). I'm using at 8am gmt and 8 am est. I set indicator for 1 min tf(can be set from 1 min to 1 month) with look back of 60 candles. It showed me 2 strong currencies and 1 weak. Strong curfrencies were CHF & EUR weak currency JPY therefore i went long eur/jpy and chf/jpy(haven't traded or looked at this one in years). I traded this using my own system not the one recomended. the first 2 screenshots are my system the second 2 are the reccomended system.

mmmhh, i see something similar to volume analysis in you pictures, may i ask you to explain how does it work. I always wanted to learn the volume analysis but i don't know exactly where to start. Thanks in advance

Size: 3 pip, with gap bars.

I use a little bit of volume in my trading, nothing really too in depth. Extra high volume likely indicates at least a stall, if not a reversal. And yes, I know its tick volume; its a measure of activity. The reason I don't use it much is because you can see the activity on the chart through faster price movement and extended range of the price bars. I primarily look for this as a secondary confirmation for a location I want to enter (location is everything in my opinion). So for example, price has been trending up (higher highs, higher lows, etc.), and we are pulling back to a support or a broken resistance (where I would like to get long), I will look for increased activity on the 1M chart once price arrives to the level of interest. If so, I take it as an indication that traders are exiting shorts and/or getting long, so I will use a range bar close up as the trigger for the trade.

If you were referencing the market profile chart instead - I studied this for a long while a couple years ago, primarily looking for scalp bounces trades off the POC, or VA high or low. Now I use it more for context - as I trade the NY/London overlap only, I can get a good idea when I wake up of what's been going on during Asia/London.
-Has pricing been consolidating, forming a nice bell curve? If so, I will likely trade countertrend at the range extremes until the range breaks.
-Has price already trended significantly in a given direction? If so I'll look for pullbacks to support or broken resistance from where to trade with the trend, and also fade continued extensions in the trend direction.
-Has price recently broken out of its overnight bell curve? If so, I'll try to get in on pullbacks to support or broken resistance and perhaps give the trade room more than a scalp to see if it runs a bit further.

I can also get an idea of where trending may be likely to occur versus areas that will provide resistance. Previous 'zippers' or 'air' (long column of single prints with minimal stopping in them) provide minimal resistance to a trend run. A former bell curve (a bunch of time spent in one location) could prove to provide too much resistance for price to run through.

Really though, I'm just scalping from horizontal lines. Price and horizontal lines on a range chart are my favorite combination so far -
