Optimization and back-testing might work for EAs that only ever trade at the close of a bar, but something as fluid as news trading isn't suited to it. For example, assume a spike of 60 pips happens within 1 second, and on another event a slow move of 5 pips every 10 seconds. Both would be treated equally by Strategy Tester because it uses 1 minute bars (finest grain), but with Amazing EA these 2 scenarios would produce completely different results in real life.

Forward Testing is much more worthwhile, concentrating on measuring spreads/slippage and the latency of the broker. In this thread there is a wealth of information about how to monitor in logfiles exactly what the EA and the broker is doing. Another thing that trips people up is not having accurate time on their trading PC and even running too many copies of the EA on different charts.

The ABS will be removing seasonal adjustment and revising July and August data ( remember the 121K from last month !).

It's likely the revisions will be down (worse than before) but the unemployment rate might get revised either way. Because it's going to be hard to estimate, the market will probably be neutral beforehand but it's highly likely there will be a whipsaw, for the first 30 seconds or so while traders work out what the real figures mean.

Hi all, I am still learning and need help to understand settings in my indicators, I do not understand what to put into them to work hopefully someone can help.
My Swiss Army Mixed histo indicator. When I put the settings into the trading program everything seems to be ok as you will see on the attached screenshot.
Line 1 - the 1 min cloud and line 2 - the 5 min cloud are working ok.
On line three I have entered 15 into the eperiod type for the 1 min trix to show me when the fast and slow are the same colours, this also seems to be working ok.
Question 1 - can I also put settings in for the 5 min trix so both 1 min and 5 min will show. If so, can you please tell me what settings to use and how to set this.
On the bottom line I have entered 5 into the eperiod type for the coral. No matter where I scroll on the chart it always stays green when the candles are above or below the coral. I have tried different coral settings but nothing seems to respond.
Question 2 - do I need more settings to get this to work and can you tell me what they would be and where they would go?

CAD Employment Change didn't give alot of profit. I traded very small lot because I wasnot sure whether it would make a big move.

Has anyone tried this on Build 711 yet I loaded on chart and see smiley face but no info writing on the chart is this normal

That's because the market is closed and EAs need price ticks from the broker to function - no prices, no execution, no display

Thanks Alan and DrBBMM for you support. I used AE for Cad NFP, good results for EURCAD and very bad for USDCAD, I'm really surprise the result of USDCAD trade, TP was higher than fill price.

If Slippage was bigger than TP, your TP became your SL and the colour of that SL would look green.

No, the EA with Buy Stop and Sell Stop order like Amazing EA can't prevent to get big slippage, except you change it to be Sell limit and Buy limit but it works totally in different/opposite ways. Sell Limit and Buy limit orders will never get slippage in all brokers.

Dear AmazingEA traders,

May I ask you the following questions on the aborted trade happened at 8:30 a.m. ET on Oct 16, 2014 when Jobless Claims was announced?

  1. Would you explain on why Sell Stop adjusted at 1.2754 on 2014.10.16 15:30:01 was not triggered even though the pending order was placed within the M1 bar, 8.8 pips above the Low at 1.27452? As for the spread, the S/Ls of the final adjustments of Buy/Sell Stops were equally 13.8 pips away from the pending orders, thus it's surmised as 3.8 pips (= 13.8 - S/L 10) at the moment.
  2. Please inform me of the meanings on "Error Occurred : No Error" and "Modifying Orders, OrdersCondition=0" generated in the Log file. I'm sorry that I'm totally illiterate on the programming language.

" ticket=-1" means the orders weren't opened.
"Error Occurred : No Error" means we don't know why?

In the other logfiles, there would be an explanation but it's probably due to the fact the orders were opened at 15:30:01 which is 1 second after news and just when a spike would occur.

So the market would have been to fast to open the orders at that time.

Other brokers open at requested price.

How is possible that it opened the trade in the first place if spread was to big? EA didnt have enough time to delete pending order or what?

I will make a complaint to Alpari.

Only 18 pips slippage...... In the past I have been given prices that are off the chart (it was an Ask price!) and on a different broker I've had 60 pips slippage.

By the way it's nothing to do with 'spread'. If you got some brokers who opened at the requested price then stick with them and don't tell anybody !

I know the thread is long but a simple search for the word 'slippage' will show how common this is ....
