LOL. I prefer learning by doing despite the profits are smaller, but learning from my own mistakes will prevent me from making the same mistakes in the future. To avoid being the victim of scammers you should search brokers on independent reviewers website such as ForexPeaceArmy or try Thinkforex who knows you will be lucky to get non slippage account like me.

{quote} Thanks for your contribution i really appreciate can u please tell me why we use the MODIFY GAP? and can you please help me convert the following parameters to a 4digit broker PointsAway=50; PointsGap=2000; ModifyGap=10; TP=500; SL=100; SecBPO=20; SecBAO=5; SecBMO=1; STWAN=70; BEPoints=20; BEOffset=10; TrailPoints=50; TrailOffset=150;

The ModifyGap was an idea I had to stop needless order modifications for 0.1 pips. Each modify takes time, so it's better to wait for price to move a certain distance before adjusting the orders. If Pointsaway is 100 (or 10 pips) then it seems OK to have ModifyGap=10 (or 1 pip).

Last night the australian news movement was 'stopped' by the 200 ema on the H1 chart, then it all went back into the trend. I jumped on the train in the opposite direction

Hi Alan. Your Amazing EA 4-3-0 is the greatest News Trading EA I have ever encountered; many thanks!

My question regarding Amazing EA 4-3-0 concerns optimization of Amazing EA 4-3-0. Even though I can access the data regarding the history of every News Trade I would have made over N Period Of Time, it doesn’t seem that one can upload the aforementioned data into Strategy Tester from the menu (Ctrl+R) of the MetaTrader 4 trading terminal. Therefore, without being able to input the history of every News Trade I would have made over N Period Of Time, it doesn't seem to make sense to perform optimization. Am I correct?

My concern is that I am trading Amazing EA 4-3-0 over four brokers, and getting different results for each broker. Is there any fix for this besides optimization?

Further, if you can inform me of how to optimize using the input of the history of every News Trade I would have made over N Period Of Time, do I have to perform the optimization for every currency pair that I trade for Amazing EA 4-3-0 to be effective?

Hi cyd09 Look at post 1242.
NFP 3-10-2014 gave nice profit 58,241.47 USD using total 187 lots to me although most of my trades got big slippages, only 2 trades (UJ and GU) didn't get slippage.
Interestingly all the non slippage trades (on GU and UJ) were lost because mistakenly using PA= 50 point. While other trades used PointsAway 100-120 points.

drBBMM,

On your recent NFP trade, are you on a live account? Why did you place multiple trades on the same instrument [XAUUSD]? Why did you not place trades on all the USD pairs?

There is no point in backtesting any news trading EA unless you can do it tick by tick. Even then, your data won't show slippage, but it will show gaps. Different brokers will give different results. Best option:- open live account with preferred broker/s and trade very small (like 0.1 or even 0.01 lots) until comfortable with settings etc.

This has been discussed many times in this thread before - please search for more info....

It wasn't the low Pointsaway that was the problem, it was the SL of 10 pips, because the spread was higher than that - if you had AddSpreadtoSL=True your trades would have survived.

Yes that is right Alan, if I used AddSpreadtoSL=True my trades of UJ (fill =109.051 at 15:29:28 spread = 15) and GU(1.60597 at 15:29:59 spread =15) would survive and gave profits too. I looked into the ticks value and realized the the spreads of UJ and GU had returned back to nearly normal after 15:30:03. When my trades of UJ & GU got slippages (fill UJ =109.555 at 15:30:30; spread =0.1 and GU =1.60375 at 15:30:25 spread = 2.3) where the fillprice were farther away and took longer time from the point opened by Amazing EAs(all other setting were exactly the same:SL = 10 pips, AddSpreadtoSL= false) the trades survived because the spreads had returned back to normal. Pertaining AddSpreadtoSL=True I used to experience bigger losses (= SL + Spread) if the price didn't move much, while if I'm sure the price will moved >30 pips it is better and more prudent to use AddSpreadtoSL=True.
Thanks Alan for this great EA.

On UJ and GU (and XAUUSD) AmazingEA 4-3-0.NFP12 USDJPYpro,M1 inputs: PointsAway=120; PointsGap=2000; ModifyGap=10; TP=1000; SL=100; NYear=2014; NMonth=10; NDay=3; NHour=19; NMin=30; NSec=0; CTCBN=0; SecBPO=20; SecBAO=5; SecBMO=1; STWAN=70; OCO=true; BEPoints=20; BEOffset=10; TrailPoints=50; TrailOffset=150; TrailImmediate=false; MM=false; RiskPercent=2.5; Lots=5.0; MaxSpread=0; AddSpreadToSL=false; SlipCheck=false; MaxSlippage=200; AllowBuys=true; AllowSells=true; UseBrokerTime=false; TradeLog=AmazingEA;
If you are sure that deviation of expected and actual number will be more than 70 on NFP that will cause a big move, it is better to use AddSpreadToSL= true.

Hi Zippyz and Contrax . Of course I use real account as you can see at left side in Navigator of Chart of my posts. I used 2 VPS and 2 PCs with different ISPs to anticipate if any of my PC got disconnected as I experienced on last month's NFP so I had to split my trades. Other than that I'm not sure if I used very big lots (100 or more) the market at news time gave enough liquidity to my trades. If there was not enough liquidity in the market my big lot orders would get slipped, so I spit the trade with hope at least some of my trades would get zero or small slippage. Although many split trades will burden the server of my broker.
I trade UJ, GU and XAUUSD on NFP. But XAUUSD is not as liquid as EU or UJ. The more illiquid a pair the more slippage it will get.

Hi Alan,

I get the point that forward testing is superior to back testing, and I agree. However, I was reviewing several articles from Metaquotes (i.e. http://www.metaquotes.net/en/metatrader4/gallery/expert_advisor_optimization) that said "Optimization is a process of adjustment of parameters that allow to maximize profits of Expert Advisors."

Therefore, do you view 'optimization' in the same manner as 'back testing?' In other words, it is not pragmatic to try and utilize optimization data? I was under the impression that all EAs had to be optimized to be effective. Sorry if the aforementioned is redundant for you to review; I would really appreciate a reply, because I am trying hard to understand why in this case optimization is not required.
