Good question. My theory is, market moves up really high, scots vote yes, pair plummets. Or alternately, scots vote no, pair still comes down some, but at a much slower rate. This kind of movement, I haven't seen it in a long time. I don't think a no vote would actually strengthen the pairing (and if you look at the G/U, you'll see this G/J's movements are not in line with that one anymore)

I've been waiting to put in a short and make some good money, but haven't seen the opportunity yet. Thought it was there at 176.180, it wasn't.

Already up about 120 pips on my longs, since I've just left them with an open TP, and going to continue with an open TP, just monitor them fairly closely.

If this pair keeps going bull if after the vote, then I have no effing clue and the markets win this round.

If anyone's looking for a long this area it's in right now is a decent spot. Not sure if it will drop down to 176.100, but it's still showing a lot of upside by staying in the trend.

Yes, it went more than that 330 pips trending.....It's at 370 pips or so.....

For the Elliott Wave Analysis one's.....we could see a fall back to the wave 4 "D" leg. 175.53 or so.....

Jump the us yen and that eur/aud, too! men.....did you know they all belong in this thread, they are "CARRY" instruments. ( which is GBP/JPY's claim to fame )


ETAdd....that dealer chart shows no reason for the price to fall.....

That's what I'm waiting to see. It's sitting on the support I'm seeing at 176.620. If it doesn't jump back into the trend, it's either signalling a break and going to start moving bearish, or the trend is shifting and still going bullish, just not as sharply. Think I'll sit out for a little bit until it shows a clear direction. Maybe wait for London to open and see what they do with this. Happy trading!

edit: It seems to be staying in that trend. Going to do what I've been doing all day, open a bunch of small positions incrementally, and close if it hits somewhere around 30 pips.

Wow, some nice movement out of japan for once. 60 pip spike, followed by a slower 60 pip drop. C'mon London! Make some magic happen here.

Doesn't look like much is happening due to the scottish vote. A good time to scalp though. Been scraping some small change with that.

I am not very convinced with short-entry right now, just my personal view, still see some upside and might see a break above 180 or above. Ideally would like to see it above 179 by the end of today!

173.00 on Sept 16 and now 178.20 at this time. 500+ point move in 2 days ? Definitely overbought but are we headed for a pullback or retracement ? USDJPY is still going strong on 6 year highs so which tail is wagging the dog ?

pull back... wrong bet unless you want to scalp 20-25 pips. All the dips were bought 180 is next level in next 24 hours

and then at the height of my arrogance after a 100 pip gain on the sell side the pair began to skyrocket to new highs that I never could have anticipated, LOL!!
