Guys what is a supertrend? I really can't discern this concept from "trend"? Does it have stronger momentum or lasting features?

Hi, it is just an indicator name, its calculation is based on ATR and helps you to color coding the trend bias.

Guys what is a supertrend? - The Super Trend is a trend-following indicator. It is based on a combination of the average price rate in the current period, and a volatility indicator.

I really can't discern this concept from "trend"? - The ATR indicator is most commonly used for this purpose. This indicator has 2 parameters: Period (the ATR Period), and Multiplier (ATR is multiplied by this value and added to the average price).

The values are calculated as follows:
Up = (HIGH + LOW) / 2 + Multiplier * ATR
Down = (HIGH + LOW) / 2 - Multiplier * ATR

When the change of trend occurs, the indicator flips

It is moving above or below the price depending on the trend in progress. It moves with the price as a stop loss except that it does not progress or does not stuck to the price during congested areas. This gives more space and time for prices to move, giving you the opportunity to capture a larger movement. You can use it as an indicator of output when it will change of direction or to set your stop loss.

Becareful when market goes ranging, you should know how to identify it.

Does it have stronger momentum or lasting features? - IMHO, YES, especially if you are following the direction of the trend and trading the pairs that gives you high ADR & ATR.

sam69... sure, nothing special here, i just combined what I need for my trading, but for the range bar I cannot provide it since I purchased this one from OVO last February this year.

thanks, i downloaded your "stuff" and indi"s, currently i play with settings from "wilders trailing stop"...its very useful indeed!

Well Scottish Independence vote has been making some money lately, have to think if it fails gbp will shoot up. 2 nice big wins on gbp/aud and gbp/jpy and a b/e on the usd.
