{quote} If market is open or closed does not affect what indicators show and how they look. I have changed the Trix settings very much for the template to show only momentum bars and to show them like I personally want. With default settings Trix looks like on the picture. {image}

{quote} Then the similarity in color change comes from the overall principle that basically most indicators show the same. When there is a good move, every indicator says - sell or buy. The only obstacle can be the trader himself.

It is ok to add or delete anything what you want. But too many indicators may become confusing. That is why it is best to analyze properly if any indicator adds at least some value or is it maybe confirming every trade and is just cluttering the chart.
I do not know anything about the volume indicators. Have been trading for years but never even paid attention to them.

Too many indicators. You can't even see charts properly to recognize PA behaviour. Focus on PA, S/R levels, and not so many indicators my friend. Cheers.

Well unless you know how to do volume spread analysis, it would make sense to at least get rid of that. If you need the row of adx then why not just use the dashboard. I don't understand the reason to have it on the chart when you're trading HTF. You should be more concern about the ADX power from the lower TF's first and flowing up to the HTF. Doesn't all the PA move start from lower TF? Why need the ADX row to show on the chart? For back testing? Well, it certainly is up to you but what's most important is for you to see PA and how PA moves (Sideways, uptrend, downtrend). You can't see it when you have all those indicators pinching the main chart up to the point where you can't see anything. Just my op.

Cheers

I do not agree with this at all!
When trading higher TF we take trades that last for days, weeks or even months. It is absolutely irrelevant what exactly are lowest TF doing at the moment of entry if all indicators confirm the entry. During the trade ADX of lower TF will change up and down hundreds of times anyway, and it is better not to monitor it to avoid emotional decisions that lead to closing the trade too early.
So, there is absolutely no need for dashboards when trading higher TF. If wanting to reduce the rows of ADX then it is possible, for example, to leave only ADX(14) on chart, and that's it. Then it is just one ADX per chart. I personally have found use for all 5 rows, so I keep them all.
Trade every TF alone and every pair alone, and you avoid confusion. Different MTF approaches make trading a pain.

Well we all have our preferences and everyone's trading methodology is different. I personally don't bother with dashboards but IMO, using all five rows of adx is not efficient way of trading HTF. There's more then enough tools here in this thread to help you trade without stacking everything under the sun on top of each other to confirm a trade decision. As I agree with you that it just adds to the confusion. If you're going to use ADX then I would agree that the first two rows of the ADX is really all you need on HTF, as long as the lower TF shows strength when pulling the trigger. I'm NOT talking about watching the lower TF after trade has been executed if you are using the dashboard. What's most important on HTF is to be able to see PA behaviour and to be able to recognize S/D or S/R levels. I personally don't even use the ADX dash or Ultra ADX power. Hope that clears it up.

Cheers

Yes, basically we need two higher rows (7 and 21) or we replace these with just one (14). Other rows can be used for visual aid but are not directly relevant.
Still, I have found out that the lowest row is sometimes good to see. No long trade when ADX(144) is red, and no short trade when it is lime.

With that stringent criteria you are basically trading the resumption of trend after a pullback. This will cause you to miss out on homerun trades. IMO, that philosophy of trading is more conducive to lower TF. There are other ways to confirm either going long or short, but I'm not here to critique one's strategy. Just offering some healthy discussion. I wish you many green pips my friend.

Cheers

Sure, I am also just discussing with no intention to criticize anybody or anything.
Missing homerun trades is not too big problem for me. I prefer to take 2-3 good trades per week choosing the safest ones. When watching 10 pairs it is never too difficult even with minimal time spent.
Good trading to you also!
