Indeed, IC Markets has recently undertaken the initiative to build a proxy cloud/network like cTrader's in order to address recent reported issues of freezing on the MT4 platform.


As to accusations of market making, though I can certainly understand the anxieties of MT4 traders with respect to this sort of thing in light of that platform's infamous exploitation by bucketshops and dealing desks, this is not permitted per ICM's Product Disclosure Statement (or PDS); a legally binding document which says that it does not do proprietary trading, seek to make a market or otherwise act as a counterparty to its clients outside of fully hedging their positions (pages 6 and 7).

Thanks for your reply, it instills a little faith when someone actually can provide feedback from the company.

I am mostly quite happy with IC Markets with exception of the latest server update where I lost all my data history due to a serve change without notification, which for manual trading doesn't really matter but my EA saw it differently.

I think sometimes brokers forget they are playing the with money of others, that does not belong to them, and this deserves a lot more respect than it gets. IT IS CASH MONEY and a service of money, not a retail sales outlet or soft drink that can be returned without major ramifications.

I know IC is the small arm of IB but you have competition out there so if you want to keep your clients, look after them. It shouldn't resort to forum posting to get good service.

FYI, Almost all IB provide the same discount under IC Markets IB agreement, Higher rebates are only applicable for accounts with large capital ($50000) above with high volume trades per month, This process also require special approval from IC Markets officials.

If you didn't already join under an IB, it is indeed possible. Should you like to receive them through mine, simply e-mail IC Markets Support at [email protected] and request to be enrolled under Kyle Cancilla's IB (ID 1053).

Upon confirmation of enrollment, definitely be sure to check your commission rate as to ascertain you are receiving your discounts; if these have not been properly applied, let me know and I will rectify the matter at once. Though ICM is usually good about applying these discounts, it's always best to be preemptive and thereby minimize any future hassle, though any missed discounts will of course be rebated.

Also note that automated commission discounts cannot be applied to accounts with positions open, though you can and will be rebated for any positions in the interim between the time you were enrolled in my IB, and the time that automated discounts were applied.

Hi guys,

I have a quick question for those of you who have traded LIVE with IC Markets.

When trading limit orders, say a SELL LIMIT (to open or close a position does not matter here). Have you ever encountered a situation where price (BID in this case) would exceed your limit and you receive ZERO FILL on your limit?

This has already happened to me twice in less than a month with FXOpen AU (a so-called ECN) causing me to lose money instead of booking a profit. I reached out to their trading desk but of course they are dodging responsibility and stating that orders may have been filled before me, which is total nonsense since the pair did trade BEYOND my limit. I would like to know if IC Markets does honor its price feed to possibly make the shift as I am getting tired of FXOpen's hogwash. Whether this is an LP flaw or a recurring IT issue, this is not acceptable.

Of course, we assume here that both brokers offer an ECN environment which is both what they are advertising heavily, true or not.

By the way, why is this thread not in the Broker Discussion forum?

I don't place limit orders much, but they do get filled when hit. My latency is pretty decent from 90 ms to 250 ms. In terms of support, you can contact live support and give them your order ID/ number and they will screenshot their "logs" I guess such as time it took to execute, latency, and LP. So far so good.

I've put together a comparative table showing the ALL-INCLUSIVE cost (spread + commissions) of trading with three popular brokers in AU, namely Axitrader, FXOpen(AU) and of course, IC Markets. I have quantified the cost in PIPS so that everything jumps out at a glance.

The commissions are considered after rebate, that is after the $1.50 cut per RT at Axitrader and IC Markets, and after a 15% discount at FXOpen(AU).

This way, you will get an apples-to-apples comparison to put against other factors such as your trading volume, the pairs that you trade, and the positive or negative slippage that you get on average per trade. You will obtain a better, quantified sense of when it is time to switch to another broker when one execution factor starts to deteriorate.

For me, for example, the pip volume that I am truly saving at FXOpen(AU) versus IC Markets is about 24.2 pips per month, not much, but enough to keep my business if everything else holds. However, because of FXOpen(AU)'s LPs consistently failing to honor their displayed bid/ask and give actual fills, I have lost about 110 pips per month in missed profit. Their execution edge therefore falls from roughly +24 pips to -85 pips. Hence, it is about time to make the switch to IC Markets.

Again, the switch would make sense ONLY if everyone can confirm that IC Markets does honor its bid/ask with actual fills when price reaches beyond (not "at") your LIMIT. Please definitely let me know what your experience has been.

I guess it also depends on your trading capital. Not sure if Axi still does this, but you get an account manager directly responsible for your account. This beats the generic support that everyone goes through with ICMarkets. At the end of the day, I still prefer ICMarkets. FXOpen account model doesn't have much to differentiate. In other words, the more you depsoit, the lower your commission. Looks like they pretty much just wants to hold onto your money. I'll take your word for the absolute costs with each broker.
Regarding IB's, any reason to go with one rather than the other...

I think you should go with the most responsive ones such as layzars and ahmerkhan, as you can be sure they will prompty answer your questions in this forum, should you have any

I wouldn't trust www.icmarketsrebate.com and www.icmarketsfx.com. I'm currently with Layzars because we are geographically close. hftgroupfx and cashbackforex are two bigger ones. the first provides a commission discount. cashbackforex gives you two options. you can get a rebate or an instant discount depending on which you prefer. I would suggest a commission discount rather than a rebate. if for some reason your IB decides not to pay up, you'll know instantly with a commission discount, but a month later with a rebate.
