That's what I'm saying, though: Stevens can try to jawbone again if he likes, but the market is under no obligation to do his bidding, and in fact may call his bluff. He wants a weak AUD for his mining industry but he also doesn't want housing bubbles. Markets are not obliged to optimize all economic variables to his liking.

Lesser deficit and the uneven RBA meeting likely to fuel AUDUSD above 0.9335 by testing 0.9370 level.

Forex has been kinda lame without the volatility. Watching 10 pip ranges in yen pairs make me wanna destroy something. I mean the EURUSD has literally been in a 7 pip range for 10 hours.

Had to head to commodities for any kind of action.

If Stevens has anything more substantial to roll out in his quest for a lower AUD it could come w/Friday's quarterly monetary policy statement (1:30am GMT August 8).

Stevens can flap his gums all he wants. Fundamentally there isn't a strong enough argument to change the rate either up or down and the big money carry traders know it. So we are left with a stable currency with low volatility. Seems like a good place to park some big bucks especially with the Kiwi showing potential downside risk. In addition, the Fed will likely remain 'rate-hike' impotent at least into 2015.

I can't see the reason for a downturn with China holding on and AUD with one of the highest interest rates.
And nothing fundamentally for a return above 94's
I'm holding long.
will turn to the JPY for a bit of excitement.
