Imo with positive (not less than expected) data, it seems there is a bit of risk off concerning a IR drop.

The Trimmed mean of CPI fueled AUD strength as the market players expect near-term rate hike after the RBA Governor missed being dovish in his speech yesterday. However, 0.9460 continue to become important resistance level for the pair to rally till 0.9510.

lets see, the CBA has just announced a 5 year fixed home loan at 4.99% so Australia's biggest bank doesn't see it your way. CPI reasonable but have read reports that core CPI expected to fall so no pressure for a rate hike. even so RBA said long term rate stability. Biggest question is when will ppl start pricing in a USD rate hike?

Yeah agree with the longer term IR. The usd is the one to watch along with geopolitical events imo.

They don't. I'm a prop trader in a bank for 2 years now. We don't have inside infos. Only the Central Bank does. And probably just those who have relatives working with the CBs. The only material information big banks know is position exposure of their clients. I trade with MorganDirect, Citivelocity and Nomura here in the bank. I guess the only advantage they have is the knowledge of our stops. They know where the break out will be.

from top 0.945 or 0.946 around 0.9280

Just taking a quick glance over past years retracements in NU are 400-1000pips, we barely touching 200 now so to say nzd is weak when the currency price and bank rates and policy are all time highs is a bit baffling to me. Things are not weak until they fall down.

I agree...it still close to all time highs in comparison to the norms. NZD had a price up based on Feds Aggressive move, now the possibly of them not raising rates is not priced in.
