buying cable from the daily average at 17025

closed -6 at 20 level reversed short same level

closed my short at 16980, 38 pips after spread.initially went long for break up ,until I saw the values on pound related pairs change,so took a 6 pip loss and reversed

first seen in the values on pound yen,and pound chf,pound euro,certainly enough time to get short before the drop

ill try to throw some light on my cable trades today.

price was trading at the daily and hour average 17024 for the last 8 hours. inevitably a break is going to happen.i psted the values of the pairs I use to direct me.they not surprisingly were also flat and trading with a deviation from 0 to aprox 7,some - some positive.

my first trade was long as the doller pairs ie,doller cad,doller chf were decreasing in value showing doller weaknes,euro doller was increasing supporting doller weakness. cable lack of desire to be sold and trading above the daily average ,the stalling point across the whole market was breaking.so the obvios trade was long cable,i took the recent low which was the 20 level as my warning something was odd.

the value in chf against the pound was increasing quickly,likewise the the yen against the pound,i realised I was the wrong side and immediately changed from long to short.at the low of 20 taking the 6 pip loss on my long,before the drop the value changes in the yen was _ 24 ,and the chf was _ 21 ,from + 4 and + 7,the euro cross against the pound was the
same.

so this was an iscolated case involving the pound.but certainly cable was lagging enough to gain an entry from the top.

I was aware of the news at 9.30,although I considered it to be secondary value,it was actually positive,the changes in the pound crosses were prevalent on yen,and chf starting just before the news and cables drop was 8 or so minutes after that release,its more than possible it has some part if nothing more than liquidity.but my point is I believe the initial sell was not initially cable .

the thing is stricky ,I don't have all the answers ,but I see this type of set up often and they in most cases play out to the tee.
