I'm wondering why this is in the commercial section and not brokers section, but since I'm with them I'll give my 2 cents. This is based on my experience and I won't be bothered with other peoples experience. Note: I'm using their true ECN acc.

 

  1. Fast deposits and withdrawals (Live in aussie, transfers are usually overnight and no fees, big win for me)
  2. tight spreads on EURUSD, other pairs I have no complaints about ( I usually scalp on EURUSD it ranges from 0-0.2 . you can see the spread comparisons on http://www.myfxbook.com/forex-broker-spreads)
  3. Execution speed and slippage ( an interesting note would be I found execution faster using Armada markets)
  4. Have yet to ring them, but their live chat and email response is fast ( inquiries were answered less than 3 working days )


and one con I can think of right now is

  1. Commission rates and swap rates (It's not a con they have it, it's just quite steep to the ones I was comparing with : Armada, FxOpen)

Side note, you can get a discount for commission and swap rates if you join an IB.


For those with MT4 connection problems, I have yet to experience any . ( Been with them since Jan this year), but then again I don't stare at my mt4 all day.

Overall this broker has yet to give me any reason to not continue using them.

Hi! I opened account cTrader ecn, can u tell me what country/city the server stay? I want to choose vps. May be u can advise me what the best for IC. I trade for news, it's very important for me! Now in my old vps write 3/9 ms, but very often change and not to my side! Sorry for my english! Thank you!

IC Markets Equinix NY4 and LD5 data centres in London and New York. MetaTrader 4 servers are in NY4 and cTrader servers are in LD5.
cTrader servers are connected to LD5 data center operate on a cloud based system with the DHCP IP address.

Wow, what an absolute s**tstorm.

Not sure what Connected's deal was and I certainly don't want to point fingers/cast aspersions, but his... partisan posting history is certainly suspicious; good catch logesharun.

Looking at the Donnaforex forums, I'm not sure what he means by 167 or so pages of complaints; the majority of those posts seem to feature announcements, questions, discussions and praise; that he would misrepresent all of this as nothing but complaints and negativity definitely seems to speak to his motives.

They removed some of his crazier posts. That dude had a near breakdown. I guess he had a really bad day yesterday.

I have read this thread with great interest as I am trying to find a good and reliable broker. I read some good stuf about IC Markets and some not so good stuf (especially from 'Connected').

I have a couple of question about this broker and I hope somebody can answer them:

What is the best (cheap) way to deposite and withdraw to IC Market (from EU)? Can I use i.e. PayPal?
When I put an stop loss with the cTrader and a place e order, does the stop order, trailing stop, Limit Order etc. execute even if my PC is shutdown or has no connection with the server?
Are there any trading restrictions?
Can I lose more money than I put into my account?

Hey Ziggy, welcome to Forex Factory and the thread!

Probably the cheapest way to deposit to IC Markets is via Local Bank Transfer via Global Collect, unless you're depositing a fairly small amount, in which case you're better off depositing via credit card (generally any amount above the $1000 mark, though this of course varies depending on your bank's local wiring fees).

If you have a pending order of any kind active, that order will indeed execute if it meets its trigger condition(s) even if you have no instances of MT4 open.

In terms of trading restrictions I believe there's a 200 position limit (unless your orders are 1 or more lots in size), and you cannot exceed 2000 server messages a day; the latter limitation is intended to prevent DDoS/Denial of Service attacks on ICM's trading infrastructure, and to prevent excessive HFT strategies from monopolizing server resources. I definitely invite someone to correct me if I'm wrong on either account.

Lastly, as with any broker, there is indeed the potential to lose more than your initial investment, particularly if you're overleveraged during high volatility events where the price can move a large amount before you're completely stopped out of your positions. My advice to avoid this outcome is to trade with proper capitalization, don't take up/retain positions during high volatility events whenever possible unless you're an experienced news trader and don't test the absolute boundaries of your available leverage.

Hey Ziggy, i have been an ic markets client for a long time...with mixed results. On a different subject and re the stop losses, do not expect stop loss to stop or kick you out of any trade, it may even go well beyond your stop loss and eat into your capital before you get kicked out of the trade. Best to kill all your trades before a high impact market news event. stay safe and trade very conservative.

Dbanga, thnx, for your replay and your suggestion.
I am still struggling on finding the right moment to go into that trade (I have a demo account for about three weeks) and I am searching for some information 24 hours before the next day of trading.
Does any one has any tips where can I find some good source of this information?
I already followed a different courses about technical analysis (candle sticks, bollinger bands, MACD, RSI etc) but I find it that this is not enough without a solid preparation for the begining of next day trading.
I would like to know from different forex traders how they prepare for the next day trading?

you must have got your personal cabinet on ic website and u can see all ur rebates in real time.

I am a signal provider and also IB with IC from last 2 years, and every thing is transparent with IC.

I have investors and signal followers ranging from 5000 to 75000$ account balance.
