I'd much rather pay a big spread and have my stops respected....

It isnt your fault, just devil brokers.. What a big spread policy! Oanda doesnt give you a chance to close order on normal spread, they double your trade charges.. Oanda wants piece of money from your pocket..

Thanks Tony, its nice hearing that from you. I'm happy with the execution of respecting my stop losses. I hope when you say severely hit it was only because that was a whopper of a candle and not because you were slipped. Also, I've finally reached that stage now where putting the trades on I'm totally emotionless, no more quivering of the hands or anything. It's either going to work or it's not and there will always be another day.

Lessons learnt so far (rookie mistakes)

1: To have a truly 50/50 chance its best to always take one side and never change (i.e always buy, or always sell)
2: Don't take a gamble trade if you lose and want to try make back what you lost. It's best to just wait and save it for another day. It's all in due time.
3: No amount of research by reading the news or 'preparation' matters as to figuring out which way it will go. It can come unexpected at anytime.
4: It's best to have a fixed % you aren't going to get upset about losing. Once you know what you are comfortable with, respect it and don't change it.
5. Only trade the big fish.

Also I would say, never let yourself think you are a failure for messing up. I know that these failures of mine will become my successes someday, as I won't be doomed to repeat them again and will that much better of a trader for having had to endure them. The best way of learning anything in this world is with experience. No amount of reading or studying is going to help you when it comes to actually doing the real thing. That you have to figure out for yourself.

USD unemployment claims don't mean much. It's NFP that is what is only worth trading when it comes to US news imho.

As for ZEW, it got banned by Tony not long ago. I would also say it wouldn't have got banned for no good reason either, Tony has the more experience of this way of trading than all of us combined. It's also been noted that ZEW is only listed as orange on the FPA Calender so with that said its understandable why the volatility isn't favourable. GBP Claimant Count Change and Unemployment Rate looks to be the only news worthy trade this week.
