Some unsolicited advice for you, and newbies who may be learning about pitchforks here: Be precise with your pivot placement. Your C (pt3) is in space. To me, that makes the lines subjective and somewhat arbitrary, although if it works for you, suit yourself.

MT4 doesn't make it easy to do so, by the way. One must place the 3 points of the pitchfork object, and THEN adjust each one using the "gravity" feature of MT4 that can snap to the precise nearby OHLC price, but only if you are exactly on the correct bar too. It's worth the effort, IMO.

Your pivot is also not the extreme price low, which works better in this case. Sometimes, however, using pivots that capture the full width of price action do work better than the price extremes, so it's worth checking both.

Using the extreme price pivots with precision is why the previously posted Mod.Schiff (not Schiff, by the way) quartile (aka "half") line held the latest major swing high, within 1 pip on my chart, which is similar to the previous ones posted by others.

A new member here. I thank everyone for their contributions. Looks like there are many knowledgable people in this forum. I really need help! I am frustrated beyond belief. I have been at this for sometime but can never seem to find my stirde. Nearly everytime I pick a C pivot, it gets busted and I end up getting stopped out. I was a premuim member of a well known educational service on the Andrew's course for about a year and never really found success in my trading. In general, the educators taught that you should look for C once some of the minor swings are broken. For example, in a longer term uptrend, there will be a pullback and on the pullback, once some of the minor counter swings are broken to the upside, that is when to draw in a C. From my experience, when I think I have found the C, there is another swing that takes me out of the trade. Or else, when I do find what I think is a C, it usually takes off without me getting a chance to enter. I also get confused on if I should be looking at an upsloping fork or downsloping fork. Also, I believe I never really have a proper fork drawn since I rarely get test/retest of the forks. Should I be drawing a fork on every swing up and down? Should I only draw a C once a prior swing hi or low is taken out? If a prior swing hi is taken out, will the the only be a pullback fork with a downslope? SHould I be using daily charts or minute charts? How long of a time frame? The educators confused me becasue they said shrink your time frame, but everytime I did that I would be on a losing trade becasue there was a pivot that was just off my screen that I didn't consider. For a C pivot, do I need to have an ultimate low or high?

As you can see, I need alot of help. My main request is that someone help me with finding a C pivot and drawing a proper fork. I am not worrying about entries right now.

In this thread, and in a few others I started that offer (for free) some helpful MT4 programs, I see a lot of "1st posts" from new users. Some are just "thanks", many are "please help me" without showing an ounce of effort, and a few are as yours is... "Thanks. Help. I've worked at it and here's a list of my questions..." which shows some effort.

I've been at pitchforks for at least 5 years, and all of the struggles you mentioned are part of the skill one can gain over time -- and I'm still working on them too, though perhaps farther along than some. See a couple of my last recent posts where I identified (in advance) a possible C, got in at the right place... and blew it by not holding on for 400+ pips!

Make no mistake, you and other visitors here... pitchforks are not easy to use, let alone master! But IMO, they offer some of the best clues for where price might begin or end moves. There are always, however, up-forks and down-forks, and one of the toughest things is to figure out which ones to pay most attention to. I'm not sure there even is a "right" answer, but maybe one can identify the edges, and make trades where the S/L can be smallest, compared to the muddle of consolidation.

I'm really busy on my own trades and/or coding. There's no magic post that I or anyone can do that's going to change your situation.

To you, or anyone else who's really serious about trading, read and read and read many pages of this thread, if not the whole thread. There are both good and bad posts, to be sure. Figure out who posts which. Spend some time replicating the old charts on your own historical data.

Brian, if you want help, you could start by posting several of the examples of past trades where you explain what you saw, where and why you got in, and how it played out. And of course, you can post some live examples that give others a bit more incentive to help, esp. if you post what turns out to be a really good live setup.

For help, start by posting some charts. No promises, but I may comment, and/or someone else might do the same.

We have strong resistance+the trendline (pitchfork). I am waiting for some strong setup of PA (Bearish engulfing or Pin-bar).

"1-2-3" is the setup from Price Action trading. Google it, there are plenty of info about.

Your magenta median set failed to make the median in time, since then it has failed to make either a new high or low... the current state is consolidation, wedge...... a wedges shape and angle can give hints for the direction of it's eventual break, but here it's symmetrical, either wait for it to break and look for setups in that direction or trade the edges of the wedge.

Here is my view on AUD NZD. Please comment on my ML. I am trying to find C pivot, on my charts. I am not sure if I am doing it properly. It made a higher low on my C. Would anyone draw a downsloper now since it failed to make a new high and took out a small pivot? Or does it have to take out a prior high or low to draw a new ML (would it have to take out my B pivot or C pivot as dawn before I could draw a new ML?

Some of the forks drawn here don't have sliding parallel lines representing support and resistance.

Also, some are missing quartile lines.

You need both of these to have a complete fork.
