My point on this issue is simple. Using this or any other indicator creates habit that hold you back from the progression of learning to be a master of your craft. Not learning these patterns or order flow and price action analysis is key in trading. You must also learn to validate what you are seeing on the chart and qualify your setup.

I don't use indicators but a was at one point heavily dependent on them like most traders and I know how they work. The ZUP uses the ZIGZAG as it's foundation for drawing these patterns and as you may or may not know this ZIGZAG severely repaints and as such so do the patterns it highlights. You want to keep chasing price around go ahead buy I will not pass silently on what I feel needs to be said after all who's house is this? If you do not like my comment pass silently or relocate are we clear?

Well looks like a very slow crawl on this Good Friday and no movement on the horizon today so I think I will take my 6 pips and call it a day. The setup is promising but I will not hold this over the weekend as the gap may hurt me. I will re-evaluate this on Sunday open an renter if it is still around. This is the trade I took last night.

Mr. Pip, do you still trade the higher time frames? I was wondering at what time frame would you consider holding over the weekends? 1hr, 4hr, daily?

4H and above for holding over the weekend. Even on these you must be careful if I'm far enough ahead in profit and all elements are still present (Order Flow) I will hold but if your trade has not progressed and the order flow is just not there as in the long I close from last night I rather take a small gain or loss and not take a very possible 50+ gap against you. Incorporate that into your rules and stay consistent on this.

I occasionally trade the 1H.

Hi Mr. Pip,

I also took this one due to confluence and coincidence. Also, see the potential for that gartley you alluded to. Then closed due to Friday, liquidity, etc. However, some harmonic confluence for lower levels also had me wary on larger tf's. Would like to know your thoughts if you would not mind sharing your thoughts on the larger tf.

It is not uncommon to see patterns within patterns specially between time frames. I was going to bring this up next week sometime because it was on my radar but we can talk about it now.

As you can see from my chart that this potential Gartley fits very nicely within this potential Bat that might be setting up. It is far too early to say that this Bat will even play out but we must look at what is in play now. I truly believe the larger time frame is king and the smaller time frame usually yields to it but in this case before we even begin to consider the bat or any lower price movement which is always a possibility, we must consider a few facts.

 

  1. Price made a significant climb breaking two lower highs with great momentum and projection this is a very bold statement that the market intends to push higher.
  2. The correction of this move closed above the 50% Fib respecting structure support and the round number 1.3800 confluence zone. This also speaks bullish order flow.
  3. Price did make a lower high respecting prior strong structure resistance twice while not making a NSL and at the moment respecting structure support and the previous confluence zone. This too is a bullish characteristic.

We seem to be experiencing a complex pullback but my bias is still bullish and it will be interesting to see how the gap might affect this analysis. We can also see on the second chart that the Gartley barely survived and is still in play pending the gap of course.

For all these reasons I remain with a bullish sentiment and will be looking for long opportunities above 1.37867 which will negate the Gartley but keep the Bat in play. I hope this explains things in detail.

I forgot to mention that the lack of trading volume today certainly play a major roll in the complexity of the situation and my reason for getting out of this trade for now. I'm sure with the full strength of the market this will have moved more swiftly to higher price action. I will look at this again at the open to look for long opportunities.

I really want to thank you for all the effort you are putting in, to help us. You take time out for us, and I really do appreciate it. I have been following this thread for a long time. I may just be a slow learner, but I am now seeing the light bulb moments coming on in my head. I am not there yet, but things are becoming clearer. I am still paper trading- demo trading. Only concentrating on the ABCD and Gartley at the moment, and particularly to price action and orderflow, I will look to add the other patterns in due course. I used to jump from one thread to another, but I know and believe that this is the way go. I want to thank you again, and long may it continue.
