Congrats to those who made green today? Kept a NZD/EUR position opened from earlier in the day...Slept through NFP..
SL was at 30...Woke up and had 75 pips in the pocket..Even with a 30 SL, surprised I wasn't stopped out as the spread during NFP must have been horrrible.
Could have held on longer for 100+...Even a blind squirrel eventually finds a nut!!! hahahha!!

My broker only allows at least 30 pips SL from market price during NFP this time and it does not trail my stops properly. As a result, I lost 32.5 pips on a supposedly at least BE trade. Is that normal? What's the minimum distance between SL and market price required in Oanda or any other broker? Can anyone shed some lights? I felt played by my broker

This should be an alarm bell that your broker is a market maker and not the honest type at that. Oanda has no minimum distance. They are a market maker too but I think the most trusted one among market makers.

ECN brokers usually allow 2-0 pip SL and to be honest if there is such restrictions, they are not a real ECN broker.

Many thanks to your info! I am aware that my broker is a market maker, but never thought it is so evil. I first started forex by trading economic news more than a year ago. After a few trades, the minimum distance between stop order and market price becomes 30pip for very big news. I thought it is normal and then I quit my news trading. Now this thing happened again. I don't know if that's the brokers' play to stop me from trading news.

I would like to use ECN brokers sometime but due to my relatively small capital, I plan to try oanda for now. Thank you for your reply and all the best to your trading!

Good for you and wish your amazing traing performance continues. My broker usually have 8 pip stop order distance requirement.

That is strange I would recommend checking your "Junk" folder just in case and if that doesn't work I'd maybe then try again with a different email address.
