it sure is cheap, considering the all time high is like 173.... when it turns, it will go to 40ish in like 3 or 4 days....its the timing....tough trade

I'd be interested to see what a VIX/VXN spread chart looks like, maybe you buy VXN sell VIX, or even something like long short term vol/short mid term..bull VIX calender spread...

long VIX a real gamble, imo - but could pay well if you hit it. For just a punt the leveraged etf's can work. Another round of earnings about to hit, may get some action there.

Hey TF,

According to this article, S&P could drop 30% once it hits the 1900 level. This would certainly provide the momentum to push the VIX higher....

looking for some short term fall in the financials for a quick 2 day scalp, stocks still looking weak.

I'm long CITI $47 PUT AT 9C or $9 per contract. Tomorrows expiration
Citi is trading at $47,65 a few moments ago. market is trading in a tight range so a explosion will pay dividends on cheap options, question is when?

For S/P to drop 30% we should see VIX trading below $11 IF NOT $10 only then I can see spikes in the VIX, this has happened historically

statistics, poppycock. I could see a dip on a crummy earnings run, but 30% triggered by a magic level is laughable, especially since it's a level in uncharted territory. I could see 5-10% dips, ranging, or steady but not steep gains, but I have a hard time seeing big drops without some major macro developments, like WAR or unexpected CB interventions....

C puts looking good, hope it can punch thru $47 for ya. I had thought C falling would be a good opp for long calls if they're far out enough, as C will rise on the tide of expectations for higher rates, so fine, let it drop....

longer term Citi will be a great call buying opportunity as will some other financials, will look to areas where it may bounce and buy 12 month out OTM options that are low in IV

Financials have their ER's out soon, watch some for a beat down to get in some long-term long calls at a discount.
