Hmm, stocks are not at all behaving like this. They ARE front running the April BOJ meeting. Interesting how speculation can cause a feeding frenzy.

I'd love 173.60 region against next week.. but if we get to 171.80 before close of the week. i'll close half of my position.

BOJ Stimulus
The BOJ could decide as soon as mid-May whether further stimulus is needed to keep inflation on track for its 2 percent target after the levy is raised, Etsuro Honda, an adviser to Abe, said in an interview this week.
Thirty-eight percent of economists forecast the BOJ will add to monetary easing by the end of June and 73 percent see it by the end of September, according to a Bloomberg News survey this month.
The BOJ will release Japanese companies’ price forecasts for the first time on April 2 as part of its full Tankan survey of business sentiment.

How to extract market sentiment and expectations:

Fundamental Analysis

Expectations:

Fact 1.1: 38% of economists does expect BoJ to add to monetary easing by the end of June
Fact 1.2: 62% of economists does not expect BoJ to add to monetary easing by the end of June
Fact 2.1: 73% of economists see it by end of September
Fact 2.2: 27% of economists does not see it by end of September.

Scenario 1/2:

Fact 1.1 holds as expected; which doesnt mean BoJ completely stop quantitative easing.
Fact 1.2 holds as unexpected; preferred scenario since in context of orderflow they will be huge short covering and responsive buying.
Fact 2.1 27% see it by end of June; what if they are wrong and vice versa?
Fact 2.2 73% dont see it by the end of June; what if they are wrong and vice versa?

Uptrend shall continue next week, a bit of retrace here and there but nowhere close to 168 as long as 169.50 acts as support.

I agree Ray, it's way too soon to deploy something big like that already. They need to access how much spending is going to be weakened because of that tax I would think.

Looks like Abe is putting pressure on the BOJ to act via Honda. In the mean time something is wrong with N.Y. now. All the sharp DOW gains have dropped off suddenly. I think we have a while to go before this BOJ act. Sold EUR/JPY as it may be the weakest in the pack because of Mario Draghi's threats of strange unconventional measures to stop the Euro Zone's low inflation before it becomes deflation. Seems everyone wants to play the weaker currency game now.

selling eur/jpy is a very intelligent gameplan. I'm still surprised that Abe could be consciously deploying a tactic that could strengthen his currency. Seems he has no choice, however. A buy up of yen could be the very reason he has perhaps postponed this tactic.

I think it is dangerous for any commentators to assume abernomics will ALWAYS attempt to weaken the yen, when they (japenese gov) have other priorities also.
