To the CEO of Oanda,

We had a recent supposedly network outage at Oanda that lasted for more than 1 hour. I am sure many clients of Oanda. including myself, would like a clear explanation on what happened and more importantly, what is being done to prevent similar outages from recurring in future. And in the event that such unfortunate incident shall occur again in future, what customer protection, with regards to their active open trade positions, are being taken care of at Oanda's end so that the customers do not have to unjustly pay for the cost of such outage through inability to access and manage their trades in a timely manner through no fault of theirs.

Please kindly oblige us with your clarification. Thank you.

Or don't trade large enough to need one. All this said, I've used Oanda forever and they have been terrific about service and deposits and withdrawals. This is an anomaly. Hopefully, their PR will clarify things and re-instill trust.

I share your experience about terrific experience trading with Oanda. I have traded with no less than 4 different brokers and I could not find one better than Oanda in almost all aspects of evaluation point. Its a shame such outages should even happened.

Guys, Oanda Is the best broker for Intraday and scalpers, no body has 5,10,15 and 30 seconds time frames !!!!!!!

Still the best broker for me so far.

As you can see I almost never post anything, but I really want to chime in with the people expressing their support. I have been trading for 9 years now, most of it with Oanda and I would not dream of leaving them. These outages can always happen for some reason or other. You have to be ready for them. Where I live now, I have power or adsl outages from time to time. I have learned to live with them, and if by rotten luck I loose some money because of them it is never a lot, and I blame only poor contingency planning on my part.

Dukascopy has 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,9,10,12,15,16,18,20,24,25,27,30,32,36,40,45,48,50,54 seconds charts.

Sounds a bit shady, no redundancy but I suppose even Amazon had outages, still I trade with oanda and this gives me serious second thoughts, who knows what really happened.

We understand your frustration and apologize for the inconvenience caused earlier today. Here is a full explanation of what happened, as was shared via social media and our forum:

On February 27th, OANDA's primary Internet Service Provider (ISP) experienced an outage and as a result our platform lost internet connectivity. We want to assure our clients that at no time was any confidential information breached.

At this time, we would like to report that through the outage our clients were protected in several ways:

-The platform continued to function throughout the network outage and executed stored client orders (Take Profit, Stop Loss, Margin Calls, etc.)
-Client orders triggered on these prices

We take this matter very seriously and are working with our network providers to add additional resiliency to our network connections, to ensure our clients have uninterrupted access to fxTrade. We are also working with our ISPs to evaluate their existing infrastructure as several of their other customers were also affected by this outage.

The outage was more than an hour. I stopped trying to access after 2 hours. Their customer service was not available either.
Nor was any web sites I tied in the UK.

I take these happenings as warnings. I do have FXCM as a hedge possibility and another account to trade.

2 weeks ago eSignal was down for 4 hours but they had the courtesy to email their customers an apology and an explanation.
