Looks to be nothing more than a line of spring thunder storms, but they will be strong so you never know....

I think I remember a number like 4 lb's that you posted........That's a lot of smelt.....It's a wonder everybody could get up out of their chair and go home.....

The place is tiny... Make shift dining area in small room off of store/counter proper... Seats 20, packed like sardines(!)... Family style serving.... A mountain of smelts, and fried potatoes completely disappeared...

Haven't seen a family style/family run operation like you describe since I was a kid.......I always remember having great food a plenty and a lots of fun....Great to hear that a spot like that is doing well.....

A true family business... He, and no.1 son go to market mon-sat morns... He is buyer... After buying, he really does little else... The rest done by sons/sons' wives, and his wife...

That's great......Do they buy everything locally?.....That means the whole community is profiting and somebody is doing some fishing off-shore........

His first stop is fish monger in lower manhattan...about 30 min from our town...5:30 AM... Has a refrigerated van... if he can't get what he wants there, he continues up to Hunt.s Point Mkt.... rarely has to do that... These smelts were caught in Canada, day before yesterday, never frozen...packed in ice...

That's great.............That is how a local economy should work........75% of the chicken and beef grown in the area are sold locally through market buyers and never leave the state...,....The litter out of the chicken houses grows corn and hay to feed the local beef industry and is all handled by local contractors.....All the profits stay in the area.........That's the way it should be.........

Sorry I'm late..........Cleanout man knocked some blocks out from under my 48 inch fans in house #3...........We're trying to figure out how to fix this now...A bad problem since the blocks are very old and brittle.....It looks like I'll need my cement man back......We can't place chick's in that house as is............
