not trading the e/u today, H1 looking a bit more in favour of bulls now but i am not feeling i want to trade that pair again today.

i have some scouts in a few pairs now, but the g/u has failed to do what i was thinking it would/could, so is currently against my scout ATM, lets see how i deal with this one as it progresses.

had enough now..... i do not like trading into NFP so that is it now until monday for me.

have a good weekend all, mine starts now.

the usd/jpy today..... looks easy but lets see!, also have scouts in g/u and a/u. not much news today so may be very slow day.

I found your thread through your latest reply in fti's thread. Please to see you here. I noticed that you use the long/short average position indicator too i.e:



Would like to enquire with you: When you open a position say for 2 lots. Then you closed only 1 lots. Subsequently, you open another position with 2 lots on the same pair. Now the total is 3 lots. Does your indicator shows 3 lots and calculate the average correctly? Thank you.

yes i have the same problem with the indy, in that if you close part of an order it will not recognize what is left on the chart, i use smaller lot sizes to make up my amount so i can take out what i want in parts still and the indy then recognises all my trades.

not in tune with it today, killing scout from yesterday and calling it day now..... i have found the quicker i recognise that i am not in step with what is going on the less loss/rescue i need to do. also lost/killed a scout in g/u from earlier today. back tomorrow.

good news. I had to call upon some rusty programming skills of mine and spending some attention to resolve the problem. Not sure if you have any experience coding but I shall attempt:

1) when we close a position partially, it creates another position containing the remaining lots not closed. In this "new" position, the system automatically generates a comment to tell you the ticket# of the original position
2) That mentioned in (1) is the problem. The indicator code only picks out orders which has no comment. Thus, the quick fixed would be to adjust the code to include orders with comments.

Original Code
if(OrderSymbol()==Symbol() && OrderComment()==Order_Comment && OrderMagicNumber()==Order_Magic_Number)
Fixed code
if(OrderSymbol()==Symbol() && OrderMagicNumber()==Order_Magic_Number)

that is very generous of you my friend, i am very grateful for your sharing this with me .

my programming skills are very basic but i believe i know how to replace lines of code, i will do it sometime this week and let you know if worked, it will be a great help, thanks .

i did not post last week as i was trying to sort out my mindset after recognizing i was having a problem, will be back posting soon.

i have replaced the code, came up with one small error in the last word 'number' but even i could fix that and it works great, thanks .

I am back now having reset myself (I hope), had time to reflect on what was upsetting my mindset and I believe it is sorted now. Even though I now believe having a journal is and will be of benefit to me (and some others hopefully), it is this that has disturbed my mindset, what I am trying to do is document my process of how I found out and started to see/understand things in the markets/charts which has and is leading down the path to trading for a living full time, in documenting this process I have had to change the way I traded without realising it, I think there is enough here for anyone who knows the basics of trading and has read fti’s thread (at least the first 200 pages) to be able to see what/why I am doing what I do, I wanted the first ten pages of this journal to lead up to what I currently know and see as of today, one reason is if I ever get ‘lost’ as we all do from time to time I can refer back to it to hopefully help get me back on track and maybe some of you reading this can also take something from it to help with whatever you are doing, what I cannot document is the mindset part but it is clear I have walked away to chill out/take stock a couple of times now and it is a big part of the whole process and tool kit you need to trade well consistently.
From this point to page ten I will still post charts with my ramblings written on them of what I am looking at within the structure to get my entries/exits, from page ten I will only post M5 charts in an ‘as is’ (except personal info) state, which are pretty bare, it take a lot of effort to post charts and explain ‘why’ and I am not proficient enough to continue doing this for to long without it affecting my trading but if anyone wants to ask questions I have no problem with that and I will do my best to try to answer anything, I am now changing the appearance of my chart, I am losing everything I do not need, my main reading of direction is taken from D1/H1 still but in a slightly different way to what I have so far documented, this is ‘where I am at now’ in my trading.

Here is the usd/jpy……my charts more compressed to get a better picture of what is happening and it help me spot the formations better/easier.
I know this is not the usual live trade I post but it is still ‘in the market’ currently and it is a very good first illustration of how I trade/where I am at using all the things I have explained plus some, so I have decided to post.

end of my daylight and FOMC soon so out for now, see what tomorrow brings now.....

Hi Phil..I thought i would look through the journal section and stumbled across your journal... I'm glad i did as your perception of the market and self
psychology is interesting. Im glad you recognized you had a mindset issue and where able to reset. That's an advantage you have
over most traders already...

thanks for your kind words and welcome, yes i believe i see the markets and other things in a different way to most, i am dyslexic so other things/senses tend to compensate for that, hence my view of the things that i do and that are around me are not usually the way the 'mainstream' says that others should do/see, i can not complain though as it has stood me in good stead with what ever i have done in the most part so far in my life , i have no family or friends (except here on FF) around me that trade so i have had to become very self aware once i understood how important mindset is to trading success.

Patience + understanding - frustration = results. (something i learnt from fti's thread)

news over and done with so back in again, just testing the water at moment.... momentum up still valid for now in M5.
