Text would have same impact as her testimony, but don't forget, she will be asked questions, so it may have bigger effect while she speaks and testify.

Thanks for the reply Knez.

I did take some trades in anticipation of the release of the text, and managed to pick up some pips (thanks Tony), albeit not entirely according to Tony's rules, but the principle remains the same...Max lots buy...(USDCAD) Perhaps I was foolish, but wanted to check this out. Seems solid to me, but every trader should perhaps look at making the strat their own?

Took a few attempts, floating at +15 on Yellen now... TP is 120

Edit floating at 36. Crazy thoughts taking over I'm about to fall in the spiral again.

BTW, Tony, or any other experienced traders of this method, how do you choose which pair to trade?

For example, Tony shorted EU today and I went long on UCAD, both won due to speaks news, but after looking at the two pairs even though the UCAD has the larger ADR, it seems as though EU had the larger initial move.

So that has me wondering, do we stick to the "normal" majors? Or do we scan the market to see which pair has the most potential and see where it takes you?

Lukasz I know you and I know you're a nice guy. You're the example of someone that deserves it cause you're a soldier. It is indeed very generous to share this info considering the potential. The thread is soon gonna reach 1.500.000 views! Think about all the silent non-registered guests that silently read and absorb all the knowledge for free. The question you ask me is a very good one. Why did I start the thread? I must think very deep because I don't seem to find the answer instantly. At the same time... I'm thinking that creating this thread has probably educated me a lot and disciplined me a lot. The best way to learn is to teach others!

Hello, we normally use the major pairs. It's going to be pretty much EUR/USD, GBP/USD, AUD/USD, OR USD/JPY. Most of the time it's eur/usd, pick the pair that's appropriate for the news. E.G: If you got England employment stats coming out, trade GBP/USD.

I keep asking myself another thing. I have a few folks around me knowing I made it but they're more interested in Instagram than learning what I know. It's amazing.

Hey there Tony, thanks for the quick, concise reply and guidance, your selflessness is really appreciated, and I echo the positive things that the other posters have been saying here.

You did not *need* to share this, you could have kept it to yourself and just partied on in between the news events, but you didn't, you shared and gave everyone else a fishing lesson instead of a fish (i.e. people can now feed themselves and their families) and that my friend speaks volumes of a mans character...

And i have some thoughts about trading the news. Today i tried to figure out how hedge funds and big players trade. I asked myself question; "do they place one f**ing big trade, or the try to "build it"".

I don't know if you will agree with me, but in my opinion they try to build position, very quietly, hours or even days before big events. I posted a chart few days ago which explains my point of view quite well.

And take a look what happend. Who knows, maybe im right, maybe i was lucky, maybe this knowledge is worth more than few millions. I only know that my acc is 250% bigger than 2 months ago. I only used this simple method and money management rules from this thread. Thats it. Without Tony i would propably think like rest of FF users "don't trade during the news" "trading news is siplme way to get slaughtered". And what am i doing? Im trading during and right before biggest news ewents on this planet.

Many theories can be brought but these movements are very complex and influenced by too many factors. I know that some financial institutions take place way before... specially the ones who have the result of the news in advance! After all the news are published by humans.

Back in the days when I was a newbie, I was sitting beside a 'whale' trader in NYC on the 12th floor watching him dump 'whale' contracts. An asian dude. He didn't have a single clue of what he was doing or how he's influencing in the world/market. Fortunately, it didn't stop him from closing his PC at the end of the day and jumping in his S500. You know, the strongest survive only. This money comes from somewhere. That S500 looked like a horse and carriage from space back in the days. The spinning wheels used to make me dizzy and filled with envy.

Tony I think I know why there is some hatred in this thread some times:

People are trying to trade your way (buy/sell before news) with a different broker than oanda. This strategy requires stops that don't slip to work and if you are trading with an ecn broker, slippage is inevitable.

I trade straddle with ecn broker and I know there is slippage but because it's a straddle, it usually doesn't matter. I had 50 pips of slippage on the last NFP but I still managed to bank some pips but imagine you had regular 18pip sl on the wrong direction. You'd think you risk 10% and suddenly you have wiped half of your account because of slippage.

I think you should always mention this when ever possible to people who don't trade oanda in the future.

That's fucked up... I would consider myself blessed to have a mentor like you. I don't even know anyone in my immediate surroundings that even knows what trading is all about. Even although I haven't had great successes yet it would be great to be able to discuss trading freely without having to deal with prejudice and disapproval of other people who think you're a gambler or you won't make it.

Even though I am good in automation/math, I never see the need to be arrogant especially when I can learn something from you; I like your style and it's very different from what I'm used to and quite frankly I'd like to try it out. I just always want to learn regardless of success! I'm very passionate about this industry so I guess even after being successful I'm gonna stick around to learn more because even my strategies have always evovled. Ignore resistance, I've had a lot of those too when I first started.

On that note, I did read nearlly 300+ pages of your thread so far from the very first post (no easy task doing it in a day!) from what I gather.. do you guys still use NYO/LO?

Still trying to catch up with the thread! Hopefully I can someday bring new ideas and motivation to the thread.

ahh, well said; my problems as well; the major problem about our line of work is we tend to be isolated islands with no colleagues. As a team, We will succeed even more; I mean isn't that the thing corporations do?
