That in and of itself isn't a method. Sure, you CAN trade without a S/L but for many it's a recipe for disaster.

Why all the fuss about Joe with no SL?

As question Number 2.

Really Slim, when you read about somebody who trades without a stop loss, does this automatically mean and indefinite hold until profit?

Or does it simply mean that that they don't drop a safety net on every trade?

It's not about the no SL, it's the way he preaches, if your using a SL your gambling and going to fail, end of story, no wiggle room at all.

going to search the entire thread for the exact quote.

Regardless, there are sorts of things that can happen, even in short term trades.
You don't use a stop so you keep "hoping" for example.

And if you have a "mental stop" in short term trades, is that so different??

Here's something I just read that's worthy of consideration. It's about self-control and could
be taken in the context of using a stop.

"However the ability to use this self- control to force our logical thought process to be dominant in the decision making process is limited. Each effort at self-control reduces the amount available for subsequent self-control."

Rhetorically speaking, how long have you been here?

Have you seen the trades that people post? Have you seen the logic behind their S/L? Do I believe that doing this is gambling more that without?

Yeah, I do.

But this is in the context of FF. Given that trade logic for some is SL=20 and TP=eleventy billion, it is a total gamble.

Logic here is dictated by trading cliches, not actual market sense. If somebody understands supply and demand zones and price movement, setting an ambiguous number as a stop is completely without merit and works out to be exactly that, a gamble.

These can be of benefit during news and market spikes, but even then, depending on the average bucketshop, they will sweep into this range tripping you out or not close the order for a loss greater than set...

Will I tell anybody, not to use them?

No. I will encourage everybody to trade their own accounts as they see fit. Whether they be in demo or live, micros or standards. Bottom line, is always the bottom line and market is ready, willing and able to consume any and all with the best of intentions and systems.

This thread is a time suck and all of the time commuted to setting Joe right, is a total waste of time.

As I said to Turvey, you can make your biggest impact with an argument for using a Stop Loss, not by trying to correct somebody that didn't ask for nor really wants to be helped.

Go ahead guys trade without SL, beware the banks hunting your stops, don't forget to enhance the capacity to be able to carry a loss for years and of course use 3 highly cash generative holy grails of BeginnerJoe.
He made great job here, gained respect and acknowledgement of many traders, even FF-famous Magix is one of them.
