{quote} Hi Binnie, Like you, I am not an expert either. What I do know about sma & ema is that sma is just a simple average of a set of numbers. Ema averages have more weight added to the more recent numbers. I am not sure of the reasoning for each uses, but Phillip uses them, so I will. ..., Art

Hi all. Thought I'd do a little research on ema vs. sma. I found a great 2 min. video from Investopedia regarding the difference see attached below. From what I understand the ema is a somewhat more aggressive indicator when compared to the sma.

http://www.investopedia.com/video/play/sma-versus-ema/

Hope this adds clarity to the difference in the two.
Trade well,

{quote} Hi ARROW, your chart is getting me confuse. would you show me the BoZ on your chart. the BoZ means for me: Bounce off Zero, (sometime just go through Zero but pull back) Thank you. SAKA showed a nice BOZ example post 21901 it looks like this: {image}

Hi Yvon,

I think you are not the only one that get confused with my chart. Me myself also confuse.. haha
What I mean with BoZ is Break of Zero.. Wrong terminology, sorry. I pull the trigger after the MACD shows a pair of RB and
break above zero line.

At the same time, the price was well supported by the EMAs.

Already hit TP but need to reconsider my trigger and entry point better. I need to learn how to recognize and sense the momentum of the
market. Stayed too long for a few pips I guess.

Missed the AUD move.

{quote} Hi Yvon, Thank you. Ok my entry is at the blue vertical (at the close of that bar). At the MACD it was zero break (break through the zero MACD line), that where i made my decision to enter the trade. Is zero break not a signal to enter a trade? Please tell me if that is so for i must correct myself. Yes, you have attached a good chart there. As for your explanation, I think you advice well reasoned out. After all, there is no right or wrong in forex trading. It is about probability ..... taking trades with high probability of making gain....

Hi Fui Yong, Yvon, Binnie, Yaakruay and all market rhythm traders..

My previous entry on GU was also zero-break-triggered, and just as Yvon said. It was not a valid entry compared with TC entry.
Partly in term of momentum. RB and TC provide more momentum than Zero Break.
Proper TC is the best entry both for beginners and veteran.

I put a short order just below 8ema with a target 21ema.
It could be wrong. But, right now the ball is high in the air

Thanks to Yvon for the annotation

Update:
GU climbing higher. 8ema successfully supported the price. My Order have not been fulfilled yet.
I will keep my order for a while or modify it accordingly (switch to long).

Have a nice weekend

This could give you a hint: it should give you abreviation on the indicator of RT, TC, etc...

Hi,

I have two running trades at the moment:

trade 1: I started the trade just before the MACD trigger
rule: after break of sma89, price tends to test it again
SL: was just below last swing low (already changed to BE)
TP: well I think the price is going to arround 1.3679 or something. But for this system you also could say => TP = arround sma89 or if sma89 broken...take profit arround sma200 (we are here between sma89 and sma200 => that means: ranging area)

trade 2: I started the trade at the trigger of the MACD signal
rule: price far away from ema8 price tends to pull back to it before it moves on (higher in this case)
SL: just above last swing high (already set to BE+10 pips
TP: halfway ema8 and ema21

edit1: I closed trade2: price was stalling arround my profit target. So I just closed it with a distance to my profit of +/-2 pips (not bad I think )
So that makes a profit of this trade at: 26,7 pips.
I also put the stats of this trade to this thread.

edit2: I just saw price was coming a little more down. I actually didn't had to intervaine the running trade1. Anyway I'm satisfide with this countertrend.
I'm now waiting for a valid MACD signal and hopefully I can pick up the up-trend.....
If the price is really coming down (I hope it's not...) then I also have to close trade1 somewhere. Anyway I already changed SL to BE+ some small pips. So it's a free ride with potential....I think

edit3: Actually trade2 was a correct ranging trade. If price between sma89 and sma 200 price tends to oscillate between both sma's

Hi HappyMe,

congrats on your trade. I saw the signal (RT) on EUR and GBP this evening.
I took the GBP. Short it at around 1.6220 and closed at 1.6175 a nice counter trend indeed.

Meanwhile, caught by a pattern in UJ.. mind to take a look?

My previous trade.

Entry at a candle after the shooting star. Just targeting EMA21, the pullback.
Put SL at the psychological level of 1.6250

It turns out that it broke below the EMA. Stick to the plan.

Need to be more flexible in adjusting the trade according to the market condition.
But because this is the counter-trend trade, I decide not to join the free ride as it would
be riskier than trend trading. For now.. need to learn about free-riding a lot. Please teach me..

Dear Richard,

I have a suggestion for you. Try to see the chart with EMA 8 and EMA 21 only.
Yes, without MACD or SMAs.

The first time learning about this strategy I was heavily depended on MACD and
would only able to see counter trend trade (RB and RT) signals.

Just after I read Phillips word,

"BEFORE GOING ANY FURTHER, PLEASE GO TO PAGE 681 POST 10212 AND PAGE 870 POST 13038 AS WELL AS PAGE 742 POST 11119 AND LISTEN TO "THE HEART OF THIS SYSTEM" AND SAVE THAT GRAPH. THEN GO TO PAGE 289-290 POST 4335 AND STUDY THOSE 13 LESSONS BY HEART. THEN START AT THE BEGINNING AND ESPECIALLY THE LIST OF INFORMATION BELOW."

l tried to understand the heart of this system, and in my humble opinion.. TC worth the time.
Feel the market rhythm with EMAs. MACD is just a trigger.

Good luck..

From me also a suggestion: in a counter trade... please be carefull!! as Phill often said in a counter trade be carefull and go for max. halfway ema21 / ema8.
That's ofcourse another story if price alreade broke the ema21 (rule: if price break ema 21 then it tends to go back before it comes down to the sma89

For now... I would delited with your sell-trade! Think about preserve your capital and do not be (to) greedy
You can manage risk, but you can't manage the return

Well I'm looking for and expecting the next trade in the coming hours. I'm waiting for the (hopefully) coming low...or did we already had that low?! (ofcourse confirmed by the MACD)

If the last low holds and I got a MACD trigger (maybe a BoZ= Bounce of zero?!) then we maybe have a new opportunity at the EUR/USD... if not we maybe need to wait untill price tested the SMA89.... or can sma368 hold the price...?!

Well we see and wait...
