Agreed about EUR/AUD. I have been watching the development of the H/S pattern which is now almost confirmed with a potential measured target of around 1.32xx
Also the double top has already been confirmed and the measured target for that is 1.38xx

My take is that it will mean AUD/USD sideways with a bearish tilt and a meltdown for the Euro.

ADD: ...and a meltdown for the Kiwi as well.

We are seeing some profit taking to start with. May be the market soon will see that these words are anything but hawkish:

Maybe. I think there are several possible scenarios. Right now I am short AU but don't know how long I will stay in, at 9400 I will make first decision.

My original thinking was that we do make drop to 9000 then back up to 9700 before the kiss of death down 8000 or wherever, but now im not sure....

Similarly I thought EURAUD would retrace to 1.4650 and then make a final move down to 1.39, but again things have changed and the giant shampoo pattern may come into play sooner rather than later

The point most disturbing is that what will be the effect of a U.S. default?

From one point, USD should fall since it lose its credibility as the world currency but from the other point, a U.S. default will wreak havoc in the financial markets all over the world and the risk appetite should be suppressed and refuge currencies should be bid.

So, what will happen to AUD/USD is beyond my imagination.

We are living in historical moments.... The world No.1 superpower is about to default !

No one knows. Because USA default never happened in history. But I assume gold, Jpy, RMB will be safe .

Right now we are seeing everyone who already knows the answer to this question getting positioned appropriately. I'm gonna play everything safe here and not get scalped bc I think a lot of retail FX guys are gonna get reamed on this coming move...

Why assume that the US is going to default? That is the least likely scenario. By now we should all know that politicians exhibit more drama than bored insecure housewives. This is all political brinkmanship... like spoiled kids protesting because they don't want to go to sleep while it is still daylight outside, only to fall asleep on the sofa before sunset anyway.

There will be no US default... just like there was no Italian government collapse... just like there was no attack against Syria... just like there was no Euro breakup... and the list goes on.

In the end, politicians will do whatever gains them the most votes. Allowing the US to default will be very bad for the Republicans and it will pretty much guarantee a democrats victory in the house in the next round of elections in Dec 2014.

If you really believe the US will default, then keep your exposure very low. Only sell extreme highs. Only buy extreme lows. Or better yet, stay flat till the dust has settled.
