well the owner of the thread is asking about negative edge system ( worst ) ...not the system without any edge due to spread...
even a kid knows that with a 50/50 system paying spread no one is going to make money ..no matter which side you enter , by doing coin toss or cross to cross.


now from cindy's example lets say...
you have 1000 dollar for trading ...trade 1dollar/pip
20SL/20 TP ....coin toss entry.spread is 1 pip

with this strategy it will take around 1000 trades to blow account..by losing 1 spread everytime you take trade.

But with your holy grail system ..trading same size everytime you will blow much much sooner than 1000 trades.That means you have negative edge....and reversing that strategy will absolutely give you edge and you will make money.

Now when we try to do opposite it doesnt work because it doesnt matter its not the strategy its you as a person can not make money.
For those of you dont know should study the prospect theory.....we tend to hold on lose forever and quit winner fast ...it never changes wether you enter from north or south.

Market is all about timing bar none .

Searching for a negative edge is not an intelligent idea because there are millions of combinations that give down-slopping equity curves, from which you will have a very hard time distinguishing which have a "negative edge" and which lose because they simply have no edge. A negative edge is just as rare as a positive edge because both evidence some market inefficiency. However when you have a positive edge you can find out very easily - simply perform some sort of bootstrapping simulation to compare with a random chance system - while with a negative edge you will have to go through the possibly millions of strategies with down slopping curves.

From an effort perspective it is MUCH simpler to look for a system that actually has an edge.

A few years ago ( +4 ) I have started to gather all info in my head read everything from everywhere. Didn't look who is saying, because my knowledge was a 0.
Many, many books posts are saying "trend is your friend" "trade with trend" risk 1:3 at least and so on. Other are telling Intraday is the hardest there is the art of the trading. At that time I took all my information what I have collected and I put into a system.
A very basic cross MA system - which works in daily, weekly charts- was applied to M5-H1 time frame. When the fast EMA crossed the slow EMA the price was already in the sky and I have opened a long position...Because the MA crossed the price is on top, under that the fast EMA and under that the slow EMA. I wanted to follow the advice of 1:3. SL was moved from 2 pip to 40 pip and tested over and over again. Most of the time soon as I have opened a Long the price maybe went a few put very soon came a pull back, which hits my tight SL.


Once somebody told me I am wrong and in his experience there are the support, resistance level, zones and is not good to apply the "follow the trend".
From then I trade, if I can in counter trend of h1-h4, and is best when the d1 and weekly show the opposite trend ( my direction).

When weekly - daily shows as h1-h4 than I don't know how far are the Support, Resistance levels. Those pivots are broken randomly, I don't like those.
I trade EUR/USD, because I live in EU and is moving when I am not sleeping and USD/JPY moving at night. Both are majors and every broker enter in cheaper spread competition for this pairs. That makes those pairs a good intraday trade instrument.

At beginning the Cross EMA system was applied to GPB/JPY. At that time I had 7-8 pip spread. I had minor success, I have respected the max 2% risk rule. Don't know how much SL and TP I had, but after 5x consecutive win I believed I know forex and I have moved to intraday with EUR/USD for 0.9 pip the story you can read above

I think with GBP/JPY I made like from -5 to +15% monthly, but wasn't enough and it was boooring, maybe I was just lucky: I didn't know why are those rules, just followed those.

Now I have more action, bigger DD and expecting bigger return monthly. Now I know what was wrong and why, not just following a set of rules blindly. Now I don't use SL and TP, but I look at charts very often. "set and forget" and don't sleep all night systems are not for me, safer without SL )

There is a thread about how long it took to find an edge. I think you will find sooner than the average.

As you can see I have applied a working system in wrong context.
If you don't have a 100% description of context, than probably it will not be the most negative one, hence hedging maybe will result a 0 system.

any system without the ability to net 10R+ trades.
There is no known long-term(10+yrs) profitable trader with a win rate of more than 61%.
